| ![]() Today was Roxy and I first day in training outside... I woke up at 5:30am to take her out.. Usually we would wake up and I'd take her to the pee pad but today I put on her sweater and hardness and outside we went (BUR) we were out there for about 15 mins then finally she did pee... So I waited a little more to see if she'd poop nope... High maintenance puppy that she is waited for us to go inside and she pooped on the pad.. I thought to myself well she got it 1/2 way LOL!! I didn't treat her for pooping because I want her to go fully outside... I hope I'm doing everything right... Anyone know where I can get a crate divider because sometimes when I leave her in there she will pee or poop lately. I know that its to big and I'm scared to put a cardboard box because she's teething sort of and eat through it LOL!!! She is 15 weeks today... Call me crazy but she sleeps in this crate why is she peeing and pooping in it? ![]()

You always have such great advice. ![]() That's a great idea about giving him kibble for tiny pees. I agree with waiting until the 30 days are up to start downgrading the treats. Thor is now a kung fu pee master! I can't believe I thought just a few weeks ago that he might not ever get it. I hope I'm not jinxing myself.

| ![]() All of these babies have us rapped around their little paws. You can't get but so mad. I probably need to count my blessings because Katy isn't chewing much on stuff that she shouldn't be.

| ![]() Chloesmama, lol I don't know what to tell you, but personally I think it's awesome! Just shows how smart Sydney is, if you ask me! ![]() ![]() Lauren & Nikko[/quote] Yeah I guess I should be happy she is a very smart dog ! Quote:
She always gets a treat but only for pooing outside , no treats for peeing since she has been trained for years now (I stopped the pee treats after the first year). I'm thinking she didn't enjoy the peeing in the house...she looked at the pad today and just looked like eewww , I don't like doing that in here... and then she went outside , so I am hoping she's over it ! ![]() Good luck everyone !! P.S. I like LemonLauren's idea of giving Thor a target .. Thor seems just like my boys...they couldn't seem to hit the dang toilet until I threw some cheerios in for targets ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Hello, I've read all kinds of info on potty issues. Try puting the pad near the door you want her to use. if it's quite a ways from where the pad is now you might have to move it some every day till it's next to the door. it's worth a try. I've read that Yorkies can be trained in 7 days and I think they can if everything is done the same way everytime... My 15wk male has done a fantastic job int the past few days and now almost use the potty all the time.(that I see anyway!) we keep them in the livingroom only, no free reange for a while longer, no reason to tempt them, lol. my 15 wk girl has had better days thou!!! today was not one of her best with the potty. Good Luck~~~~~~~~~~ |

LOL. I am afraid that my Bonnie will never be allowed out of the bathroom. I had the image of me, sitting on the couch reading with my sweet baby on my lap. Not only will she not sit on my lap, she doesn't even act like she really loves me. I am with her every second I am home (except cooking and eating) For two hours in the morning before work I am either in the bathroom with her or taking a small walk around the yard. I even drink my coffee sitting in the bathroom!! As soon as I get home from work, we go out for a walk, I feed her and leave her in the bathroom while I get supper. Then I am back in the bathroom til I tuck her in at 9. (so that I can have 1 hour to myself before bedtime.) We have just this week branched out to playing in the bedroom (carpet flooring) when she proved she would use the pad when I wasn't supervising. At least I can watch TV in there. She even barked the other day. When I went into the bathroom she was barking at the poop on her pad. LOL I guess she wanted me to see so she could get a treat. The following is a copy of what I posted on another thread: I have been married for 28 years. My husband has been against having a dog in the house, and just now gave in to my getting Bonnie, to help me through my empty nest syndrome. And because I have cried for 4 years over my last (outside) dog that died. Because of my husbands feelings on the subject, I don't dare let Bonnie have an accident in the house (that he knows of) Bonnie is doing OK using her pad. But *please don't flame me* my pup lives in my bathtub. It is a huge garden tub. I laid down a plastic table cloth on the bottom with a towel over that. The pad is on the drain end. Her bed, small crate and food dishes are on the other. She has never had an accident while in the tub. When I am home, she can be with me, at my side or running loose in the bathroom by herself. (like when I am cooking supper or eating) I have spent countless hours sitting in the bathroom floor, training and playing with her. She now uses the potty pad on the bathroom floor also. We also go outside for play and walks (and she uses the potty outside also). SO far I have kept her out of trouble and I think she is growing on DH. HOWEVER, a few weeks ago she chewed the closet door facing and scratched and licked a huge hole in the drywall in the bathroom (which I have hid behind her bed) Last night she ate the corner off the wall by the shower. There is no way to hide that ![]() ![]() Sorry I realize this is all a little off topic, but you see how worried, and depressed I am that Bonnie will not get trained and not excepted by DH. | |

| ![]() Sweetlips6 - Actually, it sounds like you are doing really pretty well! So many people let their pups just run around the house free, and just hope that they'll figure out where to pee eventually... But it sounds like you are gradually giving Bonnie more room - first the bathtub, then the bathroom, and now she's doing her business in the right place in the bedroom too? That sounds GOOD! For the first few weeks of Nikko's life, he was confined to an area in our kitchen about the size of a large garden tub. And then until he'd been with us for about a month and a half (maybe more), we had only expanded his area up to about the size of a large bathroom. But we, like you, spent as much time as humanly possible with him in that area, and trained him as best we could, and he could never leave that area unless he was on our lap, in his crate, or outdoors leased with us. The key is definitely to expand in super-small increments. I'm sorry to hear about your husband, and it sucks but there are gonna be some slip-ups. I hope he can handle it... and you can too. In my opinion, the best thing you can do right now is to exercise the ever-loving life out of Bonnie at every opportunity - take her on super long walks, I'm talking hours, every day. I wholeheartedly believe that the only "good" puppy is one who is asleep. Puppies who are asleep aren't chewing on stuff and ruining it. And if you haven't yet, get her some bully sticks to chew on! They are doggie-licious, are totally safe, and best of all, they are not your wall/closet/drywall. Good luck, and we're here for you. Complain as much as you want :-) And we'll support you, and hopefully attempt to help as best as we can... I can't imagine how difficult raising a puppy would be without the help and support of my DH - you are an amazing mom. ![]() Lauren & Nikko Last edited by lemonlauren; 03-12-2009 at 07:41 PM. |

Yorkie Talker | ![]() Do you have any idea how long it would take to potty train a pup, when one has to work? I leave him in a pen with pee pads, and he does go on them, but he also goes wherever when I have him out. I watch him, but hes fast!!! |

| ![]() Yesterday Penny only had one accident! We are hoping today will be day 1 and it will only get better from there. We don't take her to the bathroom anymore accept in the middle of the night because it is more convenient. We keep her in my office, which is a converted carport, and that is where she almost has it 100%. Sometimes she doesn't get the treat until later because we don't even notice! LOL She will come to my desk looking so happy and I will look over at the pad and sure enough she needed a treat! She is completely dependable to go on our bedroom floor wherever she wants! It is like the pad back there is just a white piece of floor and she doesn't think that is a good place to go. ![]() But, lets look at our success!! Smart doggy has only been with us a week and a half and almost has the office down!! ![]() |

| ![]() I work a full day, so Cleo (15 weeks) is in her pen with a pad. She does pretty well with peeing on it (pooh is another story!), but every now and again she goes on her bed ( I think it is when i get home and she is excited to see me), but she also goes outside. The only place i have a pad for her is in the pen. Other than that she goes outside with the "big" dogs. She seems to do pretty well, but i usually find a tiny pee spot or 2 (which are usually my fault). I take her out every hour if she goes and every 30-45 minutes until she goes. She even wakes me up in the middle of the night to go out. Seems to be working so far.....

| ![]() Well, we are still at day 0. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now tell me, why would one run to the kitchen to leave a puddle and not get a treat? Oh well, she will have only lived here 2 weeks on Sunday. The only other boo boo was in my office, and I think it was really our boo boo. She had already made two puddles on the pad and I think she didn't want to make a third. ![]() Here's looking for day 1 tomorrow. |
