| ![]() In the first pic the hair in the area looks sparse. Was this dog matted? I have seen brusing in a maltese like that when the dog was matted. And the brusing was caused by dematting the dog and tuggin on the hair over and over again (this was not my doing)

| ![]() Well, I have groomed some pretty matted Malt's...matted to the skin, and it would take some pretty hard tugging and pulling to cause bruises. Anyone causing bruies when they are de-matting shouldn't be grooming. Sheila |

| ![]() Is it bruising or possibly a burn? I'm asking because I took Tia to Petsmart (NJ) and noticed the next day while brushing her that she had this weird red circle. A few days later it was scabbing. I took her to the vet wondering "my god could she have contacted a parasite or something." The vet said it was a burn. I thought about it and remember that when she was on the table they leave the blow dryer in a stand blowing on the dog. I think it was hot and it stayed on one spot too long. Funny thing is that I took her to Petsmart because I was able to pay an extra $10 and stay with her until she was done. They did her start to finish and they have a big window to watch. Hubby and I will not leave our Yorkies with a groomer. We are really afraid after some of the horror stories. Now I won't even take them to Petsmart. I do them myself. My not be perfect but better then them getting hurt or worse. Elaine |

| ![]() Oh, I am so pissed ![]() Whether it was an accident or not, and I think not, they should have told the person. This truly, truly upsets me and is the exact reason I can never take my dogs anywhere to be groomed. This makes me want to cry.

| ![]() Who was the groomer? I would have to question her/him. Then I would file a complaint with her corporate office, keep the pics, and bbb. I would not let it rest until I understood exactly what happened. ![]() |

| ![]() Yeah, Tia had quite a burn and she has so much hair that we didn't see it right away. I felt so badly. Another friend brought and had been bringing her two dogs to a breeder. Everything went well until this last time. She picked them up and noticed the one would not open his eye. She inspected it and it was really red so she called and the groomer said "oh he must have gotten hair in it." Nope, he was poked with scissors. Not purposely of course but the owner should have been told about it. It cost her $$ in two vet visits to clear the small infection it caused. Again, this is why I WILL NOT have ANYONE groom my dogs. | ![]() I know she is groomed on a regular basis so matting wouldn't be a issue. I guess if a dog was matted I would expect then to cut it out or use a dematting tool to break it up and not pull at matt out. I have had matts before and never bruised my dog removing them and would NEVER think about just pulling them out ! I hope groomers are taught not to pull so hard that you cause a bruise. I would hope a groomer would say to the owner, your dog is to matted and we'll have to shave them down. As far as I know the vet didn't think it was a burn and never sent her home with ointment or anything. He said it was bruising. The first thing noticed was the lump on her back that was painful to the touch. Then she started looking and found the bruises on the underside. I guess we'll never know what happened because the groomer and the manager said nothing happened and the grooming, according to them went fine. |

A few months ago a dog came in matted really bad and the owner gave in on letting me shave down the dog. I went over EVERYTHING with this person made him sign all the forms, etc. He even knew his dog was matted said the kids never brush the dog. So I shaved the dog down and when he came back he even came back with a sweater for the dog. Wife came home freaked out called the salon and called me lazy for not dematting the dog (you couldnt even see the skin on this dog it was so bad). Husband told her I just shave the dog down and he didnt know this was going to happen. Of couse shes never coming back but I dont want customers like that. BRUSH YOUR DOG! I know this is a bit off topic but just explaining how some people dont care how much pain it causes their dog they just dont want them shaved (im not saying this was the case with your bruised baby ![]() I will do simple dematts but never anything that I know is going to cause the dog trauma

![]() I groom my girls myself, but know the groomers at my local Petsmart because they order products for me. They always tell me they wish their clients would take care of their Yorkies the way I take care of mine. I tell them, it's not that difficult, just run a pin brush through their coat once a day. I commiserate with you in regards to owners bringing in matted to the skin dogs. You know how bad a Malt will matt if it's not groomed daily. Well, I was grooming a rescue Malt weekly, for free, and every single week, the owner brought that baby to me, matted to the skin. I had to keep her 10-12 hours a day, in order to work on her a little bit at a time. I tried so hard to explain to the owner that dematting was rough on her baby, no matter how gentle I was..felt like I was talking to the wall.

OMG! Are you kidding!!!! Time is money and accidents happen .... this was abuse! I get my 10 month old groomed a Bark and Fitz and I stay there right with the groomer holding Odie and letting her know exactly how I want him groomed. The groomer is very nice and we have a good time. I tip her very well, and say thank you everytime for allowing me to stay. She told me several of her clients wish to stay and it is no problem. I would never leave my dog alone with a groomer ... never!
