Most of them come back about a week later giving in to shave down the dog after they attempt to dematt and Im sure got bit in the process
A few months ago a dog came in matted really bad and the owner gave in on letting me shave down the dog. I went over EVERYTHING with this person made him sign all the forms, etc. He even knew his dog was matted said the kids never brush the dog. So I shaved the dog down and when he came back he even came back with a sweater for the dog. Wife came home freaked out called the salon and called me lazy for not dematting the dog (you couldnt even see the skin on this dog it was so bad). Husband told her I just shave the dog down and he didnt know this was going to happen. Of couse shes never coming back but I dont want customers like that. BRUSH YOUR DOG! I know this is a bit off topic but just explaining how some people dont care how much pain it causes their dog they just dont want them shaved (im not saying this was the case with your bruised baby ). So I either shave them down or send them home and let them dematt their dog.
I will do simple dematts but never anything that I know is going to cause the dog trauma
Good post!

I groom my girls myself, but know the groomers at my local Petsmart because they order products for me. They always tell me they wish their clients would take care of their Yorkies the way I take care of mine. I tell them, it's not that difficult, just run a pin brush through their coat once a day.

I commiserate with you in regards to owners bringing in matted to the skin dogs. You know how bad a Malt will matt if it's not groomed daily. Well, I was grooming a rescue Malt weekly, for free, and every single week, the owner brought that baby to me, matted to the skin. I had to keep her 10-12 hours a day, in order to work on her a little bit at a time. I tried so hard to explain to the owner that dematting was rough on her baby, no matter how gentle I was..felt like I was talking to the wall.
