| Question On Breeding/Kennel License Hi guys, I don't know how many of you read my post about my neighbors knowing I have one dog more than I am supposed to have according to my town. I was just curious about a kenneling license... I'm not going to breed or sell, but it seems like obtaining that license and paying the extra money may be the situation that I need to legally prevent me from having any future problems. Can anyone tell me more about it? How hard it is to get, what is required, can it be issued in a town/city? How long does it take to go into effect? Thank you guys so much, I've been crying all night over this, and so stressed out. |

| I would think that if you are in town, then a kennel license isnt going to let you have more dogs if the limit is three. Like I said before, if someone shows up just tell them you are puppysitting for a friend that is out of town. I would think they have bigger fish to fry than worrying about you having an extra dog. Cross that bridge when you come to it and dont keep fretting about it. The neighbor would have to be a real jerk to turn you in unless the dogs barked constantly and was bothering him. I wouldnt lose any sleep over it if I were you. |

My sister finally told her that it's her dog and I just watch it everyday for them because of their schedules. I don't know though if I should go over and talk to the lady in advance and tell her what her grand daughter is saying or if I should just leave it alone =/.

| Sounds like this girl who goes to school with your sister is a busy body. How old is she anyway? I've never heard of ordinances limiting number of animals, but have only lived out West. I agree with CO_Yorkie_Momma, just wait to see if anything happens. It takes a lot to enforce those things, it's not like they will show up one day and say "Hand over the dog miss". Maybe you could call the town or city hall and just ask what options someone has. Don't give your name though, just ask questions. Do some research. And, don't validate the neighbor by approaching them. Just lay low. Feel better, I'm sure it will be fine.

My fiancee has been calling anonymously trying to find an exception to the rule. I have anxiety issues so I might try to see if she can be registered as an "exception service dog" because I know my therapist will write a letter for me. The clerk was out today who would know if anything can be done, so he'll be calling again tomorrow, and if that doesn't work we'll be calling the NYSDA in Albany to try to figure out a solution. I know you all must think I'm nuts

| I agree don't even dignify this behavior with a response. We are talking about what a child is saying to another child. Lol, if I responded to half the stuff kids say to my kids and vice versa whew, I'd be a major wreck by now, lol. It sounds to me like this child is talking and acting out because she's jealous that ya'll have a puppy. Don't worry, you're cover story is fine, and truly the city is more worried about people that have double or triple the limit. People that are keeping animals in a inhumane environment. One dog isn't going to get you into trouble, especially if you just say you're doggie sitting. Sometimes if you act nervous, and react to these things people are more likely to do something just to harrass or victimize. Be mature, be confident, and truly there are much bigger crimes in the world than one dog over a city ordinance. Good luck, sweetie!

| P.S. You're not nuts; I totally understand how thinking something can really make it prey on your nerves. Distract yourself, keep telling yourself that you aren't doing anything wrong. . . and Honey, truly, you're not!

| Sounds to me like the little girl just wants you to give her the dog and that is why she keeps bringing it up. |

| a kennel lic in most states will allow you to have more dogs but it will have to be inspected. a kennel can be in your home and their are requirements. a new law that will be instated (not sure when) but when your dogs gets his/her rabies shots, this will be reported to the state (some states this is already in effect but it will be for all states soon). the state will know know how many dogs you have. this is so they can get some control of people going over the require allowed or for people who just have tons of dogs and do not take care of them and i am sure other reasons as well. this person appears to be a very jealous person. it is people like this and who has a low self esteem that they have to find something wrong with someone else to make themselves look better. like someone said before, call and ask questions but like i said, soon, they will know how many you have if you are responsible and get their rabies shots (which i am sure you are)

My fiancee is calling the county clerk tomorrow to see what we should do to be able to have all of the dogs registered to us w/o any problems. If that means getting a license to breed, that is fine w/me. I'll pay all the extra fees, even though I will never sell a single puppy... since all my guys are spayed/neutered or will be in the future. Thank you for the helpful information. I truly think she's a jealous person. I'm not trying to bring money into this, but we just got a rather large sum of money and have been fixing up our property, buying new things for the home, and we have a car that is the same kind but a newer model than theirs that we just bought, so I think it may truly be the green eyed monster coming out of her. I know she doesn't want us to put up a privacy fence and previously I was going to work w/her on the style of the fence I get, even though I don't HAVE to... but now more than ever I want a privacy fence.. If I could have a 12 footer I would =/ I don't want that lady knowing a shred of my business.

| In most areas a kennel liscence is required based on the number of unaltered animals residing in a house. Then again there are some weirdthings that happen in some towns... It can all be cleared up by asking questions. So, good luck and I hope all your questions get answered. Trevor |
