| I am so angry!!!! I called the lady who I had the stud from and told her that I had lost three puppies and told her Lady Bella had a C-Section and that I only had two males. ( She had asked me as a fee one female and she had to pick ) And I just cant belive what she said she said she was not interested in a male puppy that I had to pay her what a female puppy would cost she said 1000.00 for the stud fee I got so mad and told her I did not think it was fair to ask so much for the stud and she said well sorry this is what I would have sold the female for. So I said I was not going to pay her and she said she would not give me the AKC number of her boy! I am just sooooo soooo mad!! What can I do???? |

| i agree with Bama. this just is a reminder to me that these things need to be worked out in advance. Like saying, " well, if I don't have any females, what do I owe you". before the stud is used. i had a person ask me the price of a pup for a stud fee and people on here told me to run the other way and I did. i ended up using my own studd. people will screw you over if you aren't careful. let this be a lesson for next time. Good luck!!!!! |

| Sorry but all of this (the what if's) should have been worked out in a contract before hand, you would have known what to expect. For you to tell her now that you're not going to pay her for the service she already provided is not fair IMO. The price is outrageous, granted. This is way, if I did hire a stud I would do a stud fee. POL is too high a price (It's my bitch that risked her life). |

| First, did you have a verbal or written contract with her??? If you have a written contract, I would have thought that something like this would be covered........but if you don't, I would call a another breeder and ask how much they charge for a stud service.......that is what I would pay the lady for the use of her stud! Maybe she was just upset over her eager anticipation to get her hands on a little female. Sorry you little baby had to go through a C-section........hope she has a full recovery.

For future information, when doing a stud service is involved with someone else, terms of the contract should be provided and laid out including In the event......... ON the contract should be the registered name and registration numbers of both sire and the dam he is breeding. Name of both breeders should also be there, dated for dates of mating and signatures.

| I agree with everyone else on this. This should of been worked out before you used him as a stud. You never know what you are going to get when you breed a dog. You could of had an all male litter. I really hate to sound like this but right now you shouldnt be worrying about if the pups are going to sell. Your bitch just had a c-section, you should be more concerned about her right now then selling these puppies.

| BIg stud fee there! Must have a beautiful pedigree. I would hope. Perfect example of get in it in writing, probably not what you want to hear right now either. I do feel for you. Doesnt anyone have a heart? I know if someone had those circumstances, I certainly would adjust the fee. Gess. A little bit greedy to me in my personal opinion. My thinking is "the boy enjoys his work!" Heck if he was the one in charge he probably would be the one paying I dont like to stud out but I have a few times. A puppy is to big of a fee to ask for me. If the breeder wont work with you, you would probably be better off to sell the lil guys without papers for less money. |

You could contact the AKC about what to do with regard to obtaining papers on a litter that the stud breeder will not give the information. Perhaps you could PM lisatodd on YT that posted she has low stud fees and see how much she thinks would be a reasonable fee for stud service. I will also be professional and upfront with the stud owner and tell her that while your agreement was for a female, you will give her one male and then 'MAYBE' some $$$ to equal out a "reasonable" stud fee so that she will give you the AKC paper information. But no way on earth would I give her the $1,000 she is asking for. That is beyond being unreasonable since you have no control over the sex of the puppies born. As a breeder or stud owner, she should be totally aware of that! Kill her with kindness. And in addition I am sure you incurred more expense with having this litter by c-section. It's a tuff situation no matter how you look at it!

| breeder I would tell the breeder you are willing to pay the going rate for her stud. If he is a champion, then find out the average fee and if he is a pet do that also...since there is nothing in writing she can not force you to pay $1000 if you choose to forget the papers... Don't be held hostage by her...I would give the pups away before I would sumit to her demands..and you will not have to give them away..but they will be less. Best wishes |

Dont be angry, you can work it out one way or the other. Give it a few days if you have to before you talk with her. Sort it out. Good luck!
