I would tell the breeder you are willing to pay the going rate for her stud. If he is a champion, then find out the average fee and if he is a pet do that also...since there is nothing in writing she can not force you to pay $1000 if you choose to forget the papers...
Don't be held hostage by her...I would give the pups away before I would sumit to her demands..and you will not have to give them away..but they will be less.
