so so happy to hear mom is at home and doing good...Yay!!! and pups are doing good as well. I will continue sending prays your way :) |
1 Attachment(s) So glad momma is back home, Hope she countiunes to do well, Our prayers have been heard, Althou many of us have never meet YT is a family and will always be there in the time of need and dispear, So many pets need humans to step up and do for them as you have for Bella, YT is not just a posting, or chat or even a place to get advise,Its the unknown world of yorkie owners sticking together,Any of us can give thoughts and advise, but our prayer and hearts are more useful sometimes, Please keep us posted on little mommy and babies, I hope you can tell your storie of heartake and turn it into a good thing by keeping those thinking of breeding for the wrong reasons from breeding. You will see newbys saying I was thinking of breeding, and I can only hope they read your storie frist, GOD BLESS YOU HONEY. Attachment 337394 |
Ahhh! So happy for you all! You are awesome and God has rewarded all your efforts. Cautiously optimistic for the future of Bella and her babies and will keep all of you in my prayers. |
i'm so proud of you for all you have done for that dog and her pups. what an amazing person you are! thank God for people like you and God Bless you and those dogs with years of health and happiness. STANDS UP WITH HUGE APPLAUSE! |
Thank you all for the kind words, thoughts and prayers. We did have another set back but is just a small bump in the road. Had to take momma back to the vet at 2:30 today. She was starting to slide back down and just could not keep her back up to a comfortable level. Vet put her IV back on and she received lactated ringers. She perked up and even would eat some food. Wanted all of my kisses and me to hold her. Vet sent me home with all the stuff to hook her up to the IV so I can continue to give her fluids/glucose when she needs the boost. Now on the other note. We are NOT going to attempt to put babies up to her at this point. With her fighting for her life, she needs NO additional stress of having to care for pups or produce milk. Let alone the energy used when the pups are trying to nurse. Some may not agree with the choice I made but I feel it is in the best interest of mom. While I know that mom's milk is better for the puppies I think mom's life is just as important too. My only goal at this point is to keep Mom and 4 puppies alive and as healthy as I possibly can without sacrificing one for the other. So the plan for mom and puppies will be to feed ALL every 2 hours weather they like it or not. Mom will be offered any food that I can put in front of her that she will eat. Per the vet any food we can get into her at this point is better than none at all. She did eat some cheese for me so that is a start. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can try, do, or give I would be more than happy to receive it. So much has happened over the last 48 hours that my mind is drawing blanks and has entered survival mode. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Each hour that we make it is one hour closer to possible recovery. Thank you again, there will never be enough words to explain my feelings for all the support I have gotten from YT. |
Mine never turned their noses up at boiled skinless chicken breast, shredded. |
Continue to pray for you, momma and the pups. |

Hey Sarah--Even though I have been off all day you have been in my thoughts constantly. Reading what I have missed and I felt like I was a diserter. I am glad little momma is back home and pups are doing good. I want to know how you are doing? I will pray and ask God to give you strength... (Luk 11:9) And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. You need to be strong and take care of yourself because little momma and babies need you. I truly hope your friend or maybe her mother have come to give you a hand. Is anyone helping you? How are you feeding them suring the day? I really wish I could help in some way. Keep up the great work, keep the post coming and we are all applauding you. |
I found this thread the other day and was not able to check yesterday. I came on today to find all kinds of things going on. So glad to hear the puppies are here and doing well. Sorry to hear about mom but glad that you were able to get her the medical attention she needed. I agree with your choice to keep mom alive and the babies and not stress mom any more at this point with four pups. They, by the way, are absolutely adorable!!!! Congrats and keep up the good work! You are doing a great job! |
So far we are just hanging in there. Was able to get mom to eat 2 vienna sausages earlier, then got her to eat another half about an hour later and now she just ate another half. Not much but a little something. Just gave her a syringe full of nutri-cal and some water to help wash it down. Then I put the bowl of water in front of her and she took some more. Gums were still pink but not bright pink which is why I did the nutri-cal. Wanting to get her to eat to bring up her sugar's as opposed to starting the IV. Just think it is better to try to get her to help before I go that route. I know if she would get a few good bites of food she would feel so much better. She does perk up after feeding but does not last too long. She has had about 4 bouts of dirrehea today. The first had a little of dark brown or black in it which happened after we left the vets this morning. Good size amount but not too alarming. Second was all dark brown/black and smaller, third was same but even smaller after 2nd visit to vet. Last one was the size of a quarter. Do you think this is from all that she has been through? Not seeing red and no red always means good but just not sure. Told vet about it but then we got on to other things so don't feel like it is of major concern since it is going down in size. What do you think? Have to feed puppies now so will post rest of my questions in just a little while. Hoping for a better night tonight. |
I'll be up for a while if there is anything I can help you with. |
So glad mom & babies are doing better |
I just saw this thread and can't believe all you have gone thru. Amazing! I'm sending you hugs and prayers for you, the mom and the pups all to hang in there and see some improvement in the morning. Bless you all. |
Well I hope to say good morning? Yes mom could have the diearea from all the fluids and sugars and meds shes had, Not to mention the c-section it self was stressfull on her, Your right as of now you must be momma to the pups,:animal-pa mom just needs to get better, Yes her milk is better Just like when us humans should breast feed becuase our milk is better but we dont all do it, And babies still thrife, Theve made it to this point so your doing a good job, As far as feeding mom anything is better then nothing, I do agree about chicken mine love it, I hope today is a good day for you, pups, and momma, I hope you have someone helping you, Feeding pups every 2 hours is great, Just remember they wont want to eat every two hours the older they get there feeding will decrease, Keep us posted, YOUVE got the hole YT community reading and waiting and praying! |

Try feeding Mom some Boiled chicken liver or beef liver, most dogs love it..and eggs, cottage cheese, boiled chicken breast, green beans, carrots. My Aunt use to show/breed boston terriers and I remember her saying that if a preganat/nusring dog won't eat to try Cat food cause its very smelly and most dogs love it...I know my 2 sit and pray on my cats while they are eating hoping they will drop a kibble lol...I know its not ideal but if all else fails I would give it a try. Hope Mom starts feeling better soon...you are a gift sent from god to this little momma he knew she was going to need someone very special to care for her and that is you...what a good mommy you have been to her. |
So sorry to hear about the setback with the mother. I think you are doing a great job, sending prayers and hugs that everyone continues to improve. |
Yes mine like cat food too, So that might work as well, Please let us know how momma is this morning, |

Surgery Things are just not going how they should with us. I am afraid that Mom will be having another surgery ASAP. Had to take mom back to the emergency vet last night since she was lethargic and had a hard extended abdomen. My thought was internal bleeding. Turns out that her uterus is infected and swollen so automatically emergency spay. (No problem, was going to have her spayed anyway). Her stomach is swollen and full of content that cant release and now infected. (Little more serious now) and now she has serous infection called parrotnitis. (Now we say ----). Put my vet on the phone with ER vet and they discussed everything. When I got back on the phone with my vet he said we had to have the surgery ASAP and still not sure if she will survive it or afterwards. Vet said to let them give her the antibiotics and another round of packed red blood cells and get her ready for surgery. Problem is the weather now. We had a dab of snow which is no biggie but not we have sleet and below freezing temps. Vet said that depending on the weather would depend on when we could do it. NOW WE HAVE A PROBLEM. The longer we have to wait the greater chance of death we have. And in case you have not guessed right now, I REFUSE TO LOSE MOM!!!!!!!!!! So now we have some major issues. Can not afford the ER vet's fee, my vet is not charging for it but doesn't know if we can do it today. Either route that I take is not a good one. Just don't know what to do, well I know what to do just was not lucky enough to be able to make that happen. So here I sit, waiting to see what the next move is going to be in my nightmarish world. I know I have asked so many times in this thread but please, send more prayers right now. Not for me, but for a dog that did not deserve this to happen to her. I know with enough prayer maybe her life can be spared. |

prayers coming your way for poor little momma. You are doing everything you can She is very lucky to have you in her life. |
My prayers are going out for this little momma. I am really surprised that she was not spayed at the same time the c-section was done. I pray she will be okay. |
