Thank you for the prayers also. So far all of them are doing real good. Mom's problem is still her BM's. They are soft but she is still moaning with them. Sent vet a text to keep him updated. Other than that everything else is going just fine. 2 of the puppies are now using a infant bottle. The other 2 just cant get their mouths open to suck it. All are gaining weight so fast. The biggest is up to 4.2 and the baby is now 2.8. I did wake up to the boy trying to nurse on mom. Don't know if it worked or not but he did not want too much formula. On the next feeding I will try to put a different dog there so I can weigh it before and after and see if there is anything. With the boy that is hard to do since he doesn't leave her. |
So I just stumbled across this thread, I usually stay away from the breeder section, and I must say I am in tears. You are an absolutely amazing lady for taking Bella and doing what you did for her and her puppies. She and her puppies are very lucky to have you. This story makes me sick to think that some people don't care if their animals get pregnant and what could possibly happen to them. But God bless you for being there for her :) |
I guess it is time that I update you on all the good things that have happened. I am now the official owner of Bella...her name will be "Momma's Little Miracle". The owner came over the other day and agreed to let me keep her. She apologized and cried and said Bella would not have been here if it wasn't for me. So that part is finally closed and this little girl is home now. Now for more good news.........She is nursing the puppies!!!!!!!!!! It started out as getting the boy to latch on which he has no problems. He is a boy right. LOL She would let him nurse for only a short period of time. Wasn't sure if he was getting anything or not and after a few minutes she would nudge him off. Then another dog started. This morning I fed the babies at 4. Most of them had a belly that already felt full. They did eat some but no where near what they were yesterday. The next feeding was getting close and I noticed all 4 puppies going to her to nurse. After they were done I felt their tummies....all felt somewhat full and I did offer bottles to them just in case they were still hungry. No takers. Stayed that way all day today so I can only assume that she now has some milk. Still checking all the babies at feeding time to make sure no one is hungry and only have a few that will take a few more bites before they are done and belly is full. I have not been able to get any milk out but wouldn't that be the only thing that they are getting to make their tummies full. There has been NO weight drop in 24 hours and I know they had 2 full feedings and a couple of partial ones so she has to have milk in there otherwise I should have seen it by now...right? Still too early to tell if she will continue but things are looking real good today. Just think...1 week ago this morning we were welcoming the new little puppies and didn't know we were on the edge of saying goodbye to mom. She was saved with all the prayers that she received. We also got a call from the ER vet yesterday. He went back to the hospital on Wednesday night (after her 2nd surgery) to check on her even though it was his day off and when she was not there he thought she passed away. Finally yesterday he decided he had to call so he pulled out her file and there was the note that I left for him letting him know she was alright. We talked on the phone for 20 minutes and he told me he did not expect her to make it which was why he went up there. He wanted to oversee her care and save her if possible. If not he wanted to just be there if things got bad. Now how many vets would do that? I am just so thankful that GOD lined up the best people to take care of her. Between showing us this site and giving the vets the knowledge to know what to do and when, this little girl has survived. While our story is looking like it will have a happy ending, that is not always the case. Too many dogs die while giving birth. Please protect your babies and have them spayed or neutered. By doing that, you are giving your baby a chance at life and not a money maker. There are 2 things that I hope our story has shown. First there is a GOD and miracles do happen!! Second, tragedy can occur in the blink of an eye so avoid that and don't let your dogs breed just for the sake of having puppies or selling them for money. My love will always be with the members here at YT for helping us through our difficult time. |

Wow! Absolutely amazing news. Again! Nursing? Who woulda thunk it? You are so very blessed to have these amazing doctors on your team. Between them and your instincts you have really created your own little miracle - or miracles! So glad to hear that Bella's owner has seen fit to let you keep her, too. You absolutely deserve her! And she no doubt needs you so much! I am very happy for you! |

Oops....I forgot to update everyone on the puppies weight today. Are you sitting down? Brown Girl is now 3.8 Black & Gray girl is 3.7 Boy is 4.8 Baby girl is 3.0 Two have passed their birth weight, 1 is close and then there is the baby....what can I say about her. LOL She did make a lot of progress. She was down to 2.4 on Thursday and now up to 3.0. She is now one of my stronger sucker's. Started as the weakest and now one of the strongest. A fighter just like her mom. |
I am glad momma is doing so much better and the pups are gaining. If you are going to allow the momma to nurse then you must make sure she is eating well, about 4 meals a day and she will need a calcium supplement like Pet-cal. After all she has been through I am surprised she would have enough milk for them. Hopefully everything will be uphill from now on and you can started getting some rest. |
3 Attachment(s) So Ive been gone taking care of my little pups witch opened there eyes on v-day, and I just read 4 pgs, Ill say the same as everyone has, WOW Iam so glade mom you and babies are doing so good, Now to questions... If pups arent crying during or after feedings with mom they are getting milk, A happy pup will eat poop and sleep, a hungry pup will cry weep and not sleep, A heallthy pup will twitch as it sleeps, helping with growth of muscles and the nurves system.Iam so glade Bella owner has agreed to hand her over for good, but I have a good feeling Bella wasnt leaving your side regraudless of what the owner had to say. Keep up the hard work!GOD BLESS GOD SOMETIMES SQUEEZES BUT NEVER CHOKES! Attachment 337957 Attachment 337958 Attachment 337959 |
Congratulations, you're a new mother yourself! :D I think Momma's Little Miracle is the perfect name for this girl. And what wonderful news that she's able to nurse her babies!! Yay!! Now, it's time for more pictures. PLEASE? :D |

Wonderful news....so very glad things are going so well. God answers prayers! |
4 Attachment(s) Tried giving her a tums this morning and she would NOT take it. So, I broke it down to smallest possible pieces and put it in her food. She did eat her food but not all of it. She is a good eater so I should be able to get the rest of the food down her in a little while. Not sure if she is getting enough milk to feed all of them. Had a few squimers this morning so I fed them some formula. Going to still ckeck them at each feeding just in case they need more. Just not comfortable enough yet to let them alone. All are asleep now cuddled with mom. Did get a few pics for you all to see. They are 8 days old now. |
4 Attachment(s) And now some individual ones of each. Hard to get a good pic of the puppies...they don't want o cooperate. LOL |

It is hard to believe it has been 8 days. I have been checking several times a day from day one, hoping for a post from you, Sara. Before, when logging on, I was praying for good news. Now I can enjoy your posts without feeling that sickness in the pit of my stomach that came from the ones that offered bad news. Thank you so much for the continued posts, even though you have had so much else to do. Your story has been so amazing and I really appreciate you taking the time to share it. Your babies are absolutely beautiful and I know you will find the best homes for each of them, when the time is right. |
Icrush the tumbs up into a chalky powder and put in puppy cows (wet) Works great momma doesnt even know its there, I did try to give her a tum one time wraped in lunch meat lol uh ya it didnt work needless to say, She eat the meat and spit the tums after 2 xs of that i cut the tum into four peaces and wraped in meat she still chewed up meat and spit out the tums, So I learned to cush them up and put in her food I give it at night time her last meal so Its gave at the same time every day! |
the pups are so cute! |

Sara, today's pictures just warm my heart. What a nice way to start the day. I hope it is all smooth sailing ahead for your and your amazing miracle pupsters. |
Sara, Sorry for nagging. I went to the nursery to see new pictures and then came back to the breeders forum. I am so happy for you. One more time, God "does" answer prayer. There is no other reason this turned into such a happy story! |
Glad to hear Mom is doing better. I enjoyed reading this thread even if at times I was sitting on edge of my seat and other times crying. Thanks for all you have done for these puppies and especially for MOM. What a great story. |
Hi Sara, Thought I'd drop in this morning and see how Mommas Little Miracle, pups and you are doing today! Have we thought of puppy names yet? I did finaly name mine yesterday, The big one is Bridgette and little one is Bailey, I fought between Brital and Bailey, But Bailey won :) Hope you have a good day, TTYS |
