When you breed a female you don't know what day she will actually conceive. The eggs can drop anytime during the heat cycle. Day 11 is the most common day for breeding but all females are different. Some will conceive early in their heat cycle and some late in their heat cycle. |
Sure feels like we are on day 70 now. LOL Honestly since I have no idea when she was breed or when she was in heat I can't even guess as to how far along that she is. We could still have another week to go and not know it. Babbsiam44....keep them cigars handy since we will need them at some point. LOL |
I know what your going threw as I my self just went threw it, my baby delivered on the 29th of Jan, 7 days ago, and boy that wait drove me crazy, At least I new the mount day and new around the time she was going to have them, but from day 55 to day 61, I was a reck, checking temps, sleeping with one eye open, watch every move she made, Iam sure shes glade she had them, If pets could only talk theyd say get this crazy lady chasing me with a thing in her hand she just has to keep sticking up my butt. Away from me. Would you like being watched every time you took a poop! lol. But her time will come when its time its a good thing shes not having them to soon you dont want sick or premees on ur hands yorkies are small enough at term, You did say you had xrays and could see pups so she was atleast 47 days at that time, Good luck hope all gos well. Keep us updated... |
hoping once again for the OP to post "we have puppies!" but if not.. did the xrays show how many?? if it was posted I missed it somewhere |
The suspense is killing me! |

Sorry friends, I had to go to work today and did not get to make my morning post. No, she has not had the babies yet. They are still moving around in there so I know all is well for now. As far as the xray goes, she had it on the 28th and we could see ribs and pelvis along with the spine and what looked to be normal heads and not alien ones. LOL From what I found, the pelvis can be seen as early as day 54. If that is the case then tomorrow would be day 63. The xray showed white around the puppies which meant calcifaction was already under way. Other than that, I have nothing else to go by as to when she could be due. I honestly thought she would have had them by now but since we have no idea when it happened we have no idea when they will come. Only time will tell. Yes, a hip flask will work about this time now. I really do need a stiff drink to get me through this. LOL I do have to work tomorrow for a little while so hopefully she will wait till I get home otherwise I will leave work to be with her. Hate that I have to leave her at all right now but I am sure she is enjoying the break from me watching her. I am sure if she could talk I would be called a lot worse than a crazy lady. :D Will keep you posted as best I can. But know the minute she goes into labor you will know. Hugs!! |

I was hoping to hear about her tonight. Glad everything is still good, but I know it would be better with her being over this part, hang in there.:) |

xray As for your question about xrays, If the xrays showed okay for the birth two weeks ago then it still should be that way, As the last two weeks of growth is fat content and not bone, But xrays sometimes dont tell us the hole storie, If an xray shows 3 pups there could be 4 If the xrays show us small pups they could be large, When Bella was preg I could feel pups for a month but 4 days before birth they really started moving and didnt stop, Moving in postion for birth, Some say your bitches belly may look like hard tiny rocks inside before birth, When time comes your momma will let you know, Mine just had a look in her eye, She went to the closet then to my bed, I heard a yelp, I walked in my room and she went to the closet and laid in her bed, I told my hubby, todays the day! I started to pet her noticed she was pushing, The hole process took 30 mins before we had the 1st pup, Now I watched every yorkie giving birth on line and read every thing, But nothing is like the real the thing, Some do good, and some donot, If your best quess is today is day 63 then shes still safe to be holding those little buns in the oven, When its all over you will look at her and those pups and say it was all worth it, Every mint, Now Im getting my little one fixed because I cant go threw that again, and I know my little girl doersnt want to eighter. |
I just started reading this thread and it's like reading a mystery novel where the suspense builds from page to page. So bummed to get to page 5 with no pups! You must be so tired! But at least the weather has turned for the better (73 in Austin today after snow on Friday) and you didn't have to worry about trying to get to the vet in the sleet and snow! Will keep fingers crossed for a positive outcome - for babies, momma AND you! |
I can honestly say now that I have just sent the vet a text message. When I came home at 2 today I checked on her and nothing seemed out of the normal. After getting 4 hours of sleep, I checked her again and now her vulva and all the hair around it is all stuck together. Looks to me like she may have lost her mucus plug. She was licking and breathing heavier for a little bit but has seemed to calm back down for the time being. Tummy is hard at times and then not so hard so I think she might be having some contractions although I can't feel the release of the contraction like you can with a human. I think we are just about on puppy watch but that is just my guess. Will post again if something else changes. Just wanted to let everyone know we are definitely close now. Keep the prayers coming for a safe and easy whelp. |
OK, here we go. Has she been confined to one area? When my little momma had hers it was like bam! there she was in labor, never saw anything sticky around her little vagigi at first. I was just asking to make sure she did not already have one somewhere. Got the cigars and my drink(Sierra Mist) on my nightstand. Do you have your supplies ready? Keep posting.... |

She does not seem stressed or in pain. Breathing is heavier at some times than what it is at others so I think contractions are still mild. |
You better take some Excedrin, it's gonna be a long night. I'm here, waiting... |

You haven't mentioned your friend - Bella's owner. Is she helping you at all? Even just to help monitor her girl? |
Except for us here, I think she is on her own. |
Emotional support is invaluable, but unless somebody takes a shift on that computer room floor so that this poor lady can get some real sleep, it's going to be tough. |
Not getting any help or concern from Steph. I am friends with her mom and her mom is the one that told me to go get the girl from her. Stephanie had no problems letting me take her since she has a lot of issues going on now. (She is young and does stuff she really shouldn't). I already told her mom that I would be placing the puppies in homes and she had no problems with that. I am not sure if Bella will be going back to her but since she is not checking in I don't think so. I will most likely keep her since I am very attached to her right now. She will be spayed so if she does go back there will NEVER be this issue again. Won't be going to sleep anytime soon. Was going to try to lay down for a little bit but she is now starting to nest. Don't know if she is just getting blankets comfortable or not but she has done it several times while I was typing this message. She does it for a little bit then lays down and then does it again. Looks like me and the 5 hour energy drink will be best friends tonight. Most of my emotional support is coming from the friends I have made here. I have talked to a few ladies that have been a great help and said I could call if I have problems. Other than that, I just have a few people outside of this forum that I have talked too besides the vet. The rest I have had to do and learn on my own. |
I guess we are the shift "on the computer room floor" so to speak. We are here, we are here, we are here(Horton Hears a Who) |
LOL...that was cute. Thanks for all the help and support. I could not have found a better place or a better group of people. I know everything will be just fine. |
Nothing yet? |
Checking in for an update... Call if you need anything. |
Thanks Melissa, nothing yet. She has been pacing around for a little while and licking more but we are back resting some. Still has periods of heavier breathing but nothing that is a solid pant yet. My guess is she won't do anything till morning. But then again I am no expert. LOL |
just got done reading this whole thread....any puppies yet? |
nope, we are still waiting |
I have had them do what your explaining for a week. Some taking their temp works but for the most part it just drives me crazy to watch it go up and down. This part drives me crazy.. Im not good at waiting. Lol. Sounds like you are prepared and have a good vet so try to relax.. Yeah right.. Lol. Every whelp I gain 10 pounds and don't sleep for a week. Lol |
