Awww the pics are so adorable. sorry for mamas belly though :( Im so happy to hear things are looking towards the brighter side for you all xoxo. |
OMGish Sara, I haven't been on in days and haven't heard anything from you and didn't expect what you have gone through. I am so sorry, I am just glad everyone is doing so well now, I knew by talking to you the few times I did, that she was in the best hands she could be, and after everything you both have been going through I know I was right. Big Hugs to you Sara, most people wouldn't have done it in the first place. You have a huge heart!!!! |
First of all I would like to say thank you so much for the offers but I can't accept anything. If you would like to help there is a way. Please spread our story around so that others will see the real life dangers in breeding a dog that is too small and has no testing. This all could have been avoided had this girl witnessed real life events. Having cute puppies are great but at what cost. There are so many dogs in shelters that need homes and so many people breeding for money that somewhere it has to stop. Let my story possibly change 1 person's mind on breeding. That would be the greatest gift you could give us. Don't let what happened to us happen to another dog. They just don't deserve it. |

I was telling my daughter about your story today (who, BTW, also has a 4 pound yorkie named Bella). She is a vet tech in Colorado and has worked for emergency vet hospitals. She has seen a lot, but even your story really touched her and she agreed that you have gone above and beyond. Most people would have lost the mom or pups by now. She was shocked and impressed that all the pups are alive and thriving. Of course, she is an advocate for spay/neuter and preaches this everywhere she goes when the opportunity arises. It is unfortunate that so many people, like Bella's original owner, are ignorant to the repercussions of pregnancy mishaps. Again, cheers to you for all you have done. And please reconsider letting us help you in any way we can to offset the costs you have unexpectedly incurred caring for this lucky little yorkie family. |

Thank you again for the offer but we need prayers more than we need anything else. We are close to 48 hours post op and that is when we are upgraded to a 50% survival rate. Not out of the woods yet but each hour gets us closer. We do have a vet appointment in the morning so hopefully we will continue to get good news. Did have to remove mom from pups for awhile today. She was just getting so worked up in trying to take care of them that I felt she was not letting her body have the rest that it needed. Her energy was being used to care for the puppies when it should be used to fight the infections. So now she is sitting in my lap as I type, sleeping. Momma does know what is best. LOL Will let her have limited interaction for the time being. Must get ready to feed the troops. They will want dinner on time. LOL Otherwise I will not hear the end of it. |
Thank God this amazing story is turning out ok, and I hope it continues to do so. I thought about these pups all day and couldn't wait to get home and check for the update. Sara.... awesome doesn't begin to describe you; you are much more than that! You are truly and angel. |
Praying for you, momma and the pups. |

Perhaps we could all make donations to our local shelters, rescues, etc. in honor of you and these little ones? You've been such an inspiration, not to mention an outstanding example, to us all. We'd appreciate the chance to show our support. :) Bonny |
I havent been around lately but glad to come by & check out the great news, I am so happy things are coming around, your story has put my situation in prospective. Though I have a larger Yorkie & she was looked at before the tie & given the all clear to go ahead, you have made me look at this whelping in a whole new way, thinking about everything & getting ready for God forbid the worse, but momma to be has been great- Im so proud of her. Thank you for sharing all the pictures & stories of her getting better each day! You are still in my prayers & will be, I will keep you posted on my journey! God bless all 6 of you! |

Just read all 17 pages and I have to say congratulations I am so happy mom and pups are doing fine. you are a amazing person |
Sorry for the late post but we have finally made it past the 48 hour post op with only 1 scare. Yesterday momma had diarrhea and vomiting. Was not too concerned since we tried taking her off the a/d and giving her puppy food. Also noticed that her tummy was a little bigger. When she started getting sick, I pulled the puppy food and back to our food we went. She got taken away from the puppies since her gums were staying on the lower side of pink and I felt she was just not giving herself a chance to rest and recover from what she already been through. This morning we had a vet appointment. I was getting ready to feed babies and had just moved them to the living room to start when I heard momma moaning. I jumped and ran the few feet to where she was and it looked like she was trying to potty but she kept moaning. Well, we all know how frayed my nerves are so I immediately called the vet. No answer so I just loaded everyone in the car and we started on our way to his office. My fear was relapsing. Vet called while I was driving and told him what was going on and he said for us to come in now. Told him I was already on my way and would be there in a few minutes. We get there and he immediately checks momma out. No temp, walking just fine, tummy swollen some but after he put her on the scale and asked how much food she ate yesterday he was not concerned. Actually he started to laugh. Made me show him where I felt her swelling at and I showed him which is was still there. The tech told me her weight was now 4.2 I just about fell over. She had food in her tummy. LOL Talk about being on the edge for way too long. I could do nothing but laugh. So momma got a good check up and nothing showing up so far. Still left her IV cath in which is what he calls her life line now. I think he will probably take that out next week once we get more days under us with no problems. Now for the puppies....they got their 5 day check up and also dew claw and tail docking done. I was concerned since they were still under their birth weight by more than what I thought they should be but he wasn't. Said they were extremely healthy. Nothing abnormal, all tummies, heart, lungs and mouths looked great. Said if I had not told him they were underweight he would have never seen it. Said not to worry since they have not dropped any for the last couple of days and said to continue doing what I have been doing since they were in perfect health. Of course he had to hold his namesake. I named the little boy after him. Mom is allowed to be with babies again providing she takes some time to rest her self. She has done great today. She only fusses with them for a short while and then lays down and rests. Will get out of box to go potty but likes for me to feed her while she is in there. She is just too funny. So, all in all, today has been a good day and looks like we have passed the dangerous area. Still not completely out of the woods yet but with her not showing any signs that is a good thing. Have some new pictures of the puppies so I will get them resized and posted later. Momma sends everyone her love for watching out for her and her babies. Hugs!!! |
So happy that things are going better for momma and babies, will continue to pray. |
Such a relief to hear more good new. Your nerves have to be a wreck by now, so do try to take care of yourself the best you can with all the new duties. |
Thankful I just caught this post (not able to spend much time hanging out here these days)... BUT, I wanted to say that I Thank God for You. You have been this little girl's Angel. I am thankful that He touched her and her little ones and made them strong /fighters! = ) He also blessed them so much, when he brought you into their lives. My prayers are with you and your little family. |
Just checking in and thrilled with the new update! I'm so proud of this little momma. :) |
So glad things are going in the right direction hugs to all of you |
So thrilled with your progress. You will be on my "hero" list always. Prayers to you and your family. |
omg what an amazin story, im sure you are exausted, what a wonderful thing you done in the first place, to save this little girl, so happy to read pups and mom doin well, well done xxxx |
Hi Friends, Can you believe we are on day 6 now. Just seems like it should be longer. Mom had some moaning last night when she was trying to have a BM. Had to wash her twice. The poop was not hard so I can only think that it is the pain that you get when you have a bm after surgery. Did put a little KY there and that seemed to help. Today she made no noise when she went. No temp, mom eating like a pig, drinking water. So far she is doing extremely well considering what she went through. Now for the question about feeding these babies. I know you are supposed to feed them every 2 hours but mine don't want food after 2 hours, 2.5 to 3 hours is when they are ready to eat. Do I still need to try every 2 hours? Should I cut back on what they feed so they will eat more often? When I do cut back on food they will cry till their belly is full. ALL of them are gaining weight. the boy is back to birth weight and that was just from yesterday to today so they are by no means being underfed. One girl is at her birth weight, one is close and the baby still has a ways to go but she gained .2 of an oz overnight. Which is a lot for her tiny figure. LOL The vet said that to try to feed them every 2 hours but if they don't want it just let them tell me when it is time. So far they are sticking to a 2.5-3 hour range. Is that okay?? Now for question about mom. She tries to take the bottle away from me. I figure she thinks I am poising them or something and that smell should not be near her babies. If I let her near the baby while I am feeding it she will either try to take the baby away or try to take the bottle away. She likes to remove all towels and blankets from the bed...even if the puppies are in them. My puppies are blanket puppies and LOVE to hide under them. Mom does not like that. Mom will also go and wake the puppies up and get them all crying then leave. Why won't she just let them sleep. After she gets them crying and comes back, she will gather them all up and lay on them to hush them. I am sure some of this is normal but just needed to hear it from the experts. Did try putting a pup on her today to see if that would calm her down and when the pup latched on, she nudged it off. Just don't know what she wants. LOL Have not figured out canine ESP yet. Pups are starting to fill out now. No more chicken legs...you can actually see them start to look more like dogs then mice. LOL Is there a time frame that if my pups make it to that then they will be alright?? I know the first week it is not uncommon to lose a puppy so I was just wondering when or if we were out of the woods with them. I know mom still has more to go before she is out of danger for relapse. All in all, things are definitely better. Have been able to put in a few hours a night at work. Still tired and can't wait till I can sleep 8 hours in a row. Hope everyone is doing fine and has a wonderful day today. |
Sara, Thanks for the update I am happy that things have improved for you. You had alot to handle there for awhile. I am no help at all, I have zero breeding experience. Just want to tell you I think you have done a marvelous job cosidering everything you have been through. I will continue to pray for the Mom and babies. |

Wow... this is one of the best, most exciting novels that I have ever read !! I'm hooked... cant wait to see what happens tomorrow. But really.... what a roller coaster you have been on these past few weeks, stick in there, there is so much more to come. You have to be one very Special lady to do all that you have done for this little gal. Welcome her your family for me! |
Sara, think of all the time you could save by just setting up a web cam. We could have 24x7 updates and could see the wonderful woman in action! |
