I'm just curious what adjective a person is suppose to use when describing their dogs? If the puppy looks like a Teddybear, what's wrong with that?

Well, let's start with the fact that "teddy bear" isn't an adjective. Also, it's up to the buyers to be aware that their are certain marketing terms, such as micro, teacup, babydoll, apple head, etc. that are really describing Yorkies not bred to standard. A good, reputable breeder knows what the standard is that is to be met, and wouldn't try to pull a fast one on unsuspecting buyers by using a cutesy term.

You're correct if just using the term "Teddy Bear", but we are talking about descriptions of a dog which makes it an adjective. Teddy Bear Face.

I just think that if a person has puppies that have a baby doll face or teddy bear face, there is nothing wrong with claiming it. Not everybody is buying a show dog and to be quite frank, I don't think that a lot of the show breeders dogs have the best living conditions for their dogs. I have seen a few that are in crates 24/7.

If a person is breeding healthy dogs, and are not obvious puppy mills, I don't see anything wrong with the descriptions.

It's wrong because it's not breeding to standard. Whether someone is breeding for show or for pet, standard is the standard for a reason. If someone is choosing to breed and describe these off standard dogs as "teddy bear" or whatever, than they aren't breeding for the betterment of the breed, but rather for greed. And that is what is wrong with breeders using descriptions like that.

That's exactly what I was going to say.

Typically, the term is used to describe dogs with shorter muzzles, and wide set, rounder and more protruding eyes. In other words, NOT what is described per the breed standard. THAT, IMO is 'what is wrong with it.' Breeding to deviate from the standard for traits that often present a larger likelyhood of health issues.

That one is indirect oppostion to Florida's Pet Lemon Law, too:

The law provides for replacement plus reimbursement for veterinary expenses related to certifying the illness, up to the price of the dog.
If a dog is proven ill or defect, consumers may demand a refund or replacement plus reimbursement of veterinary expenses up to the price of the dog.

This is a huge red flag every time I see it in someone's sales agreement. Liver shunt is treatable, yet genetic. So the breeder should take no responsibility for that? So is LP, that should be the new owner's responsibility too? There are many conditions that are 'treatable', yet a result of the issues being bred on to further generations. To me, this type of wording in a "guarantee" does nothing more than free the breeder of any responsibilities should those issues arise.

Welcome to YT! Perhaps you meant 'pups' not 'pets?'

Don't have any first hand experience with the breeder, but do see where she had 6 litters between 7/1 - 9/23 alone. Seems a bit excessive, IMO. Just sayin'. I wouldn't feel comfortable agreeing with all the aspects defined in the sales contract either, but that's just me. Could be a great breeder with nice dogs for all I know, just mentioning what I see that would be of concern.

Perhaps someone else will have a more detailed account for you.
