| Somehow I'm not shocked. It's become obvious to me that there are quite a few that just 'use' YorkieTalk for their own ends. For instance, some just use it as a place to post free ads, with a built-in market base. |

| Yes, but not all are aware of it. There are so many members that feel being a member of YT makes you reputable; either as breeder or a buyer.

I really hope she was not punishing her children. Some of the things that people can do do their children without leaving physical scars are just sick, but sadly I can not think of any reasonable reason for this woman to do such a thing. Audrey

| I get a phone call from a woman ... It's my little girls birthday and I don't have any money. I am calling to find a breeder who has " Lots" of puppies, so they won't mind giving me one. I explained that I was unable to help her and she rambled about how she would give "It" a "Real good" home but just didn't have ANY money.. Woman, have you ever heard of a vet bill? A food bill? Treats? Toys? Bed? Story 2 was the lady who called to ask about my 5 month old Puppies- She wanted to know if I had anymore and could she come get it at 4-5 WEEKS. I explained that no breeder in their right mind would sell her a Yorkie puppy at that age and that if one did she was in for heartbreak when it DIED. It didn't help, she said he just wanted one to sleep in the palm of her hand and she didn't want " It" to get no bigger than 2 pounds" |

On the flip side, there are some very nice, caring people here. Like anywhere, you just have to careful when placing your babies. The ones that don't want to go through my process just don't get one of mine. I try to educate the ones that have unreasonable expectations so whatever pup they get doesn't suffer at their hands. I often spend a lot of time with folks that I know I don't have a baby for, just to educate them on the breed and what to watch out for in a breeder. The ones that don't want to listen I just say, "well, I'm sure there's someone out there that will tell you just what you want to hear".

I would think they would want a healthy puppy... I always offer to help people but only so many want the help or the info.

Interesting enough availability of a puppy at a particular time was my deciding factor between two different breeders. All things being equal, one puppy was available to come home with me during my vacation. Despite the breeder preferring to keep her another week, she was 12 weeks and had had two sets of shots on the first day of my vacation, to which I explained to the breeder, that I felt bringing a new puppy home it was important I could be there and devote myself to this new change for the puppy rather than waiting the next week when I would not be home daily for it and therefore any benefit the puppy might gain from remaining with her another week may not be greater than the adjustment period coming to a new home. The breeder thought about that and agreed. This person may not have articulated all the reasons behind their initial questions and they may have been someone who truly wanted the best for the puppy and timing can be important. No one knows if you will have puppies available on July 15th or any other time unless they ask, therefore the question seems very reasonable to me. ~KC

| I think the person Audrey is referring to wanted the pup after their vacation, when they were returning to work. It seems like they didn't want a new pup to interfere with their vacation. |

| As others have stated...I too was worried when I saw the title to this thread but, pleasantly surprised! After all, the last thing we need is a crash course on the right way to interview with a Breeder or Rescue!
