Reputable Breeders Stiffled

i don't EVER report people for saying what they say(i will not report this thread either), because i do believe that people should be able to say what they think. it is very important to me.

i am glad that you are saying how you feel and explaining why you think some knowledgeable people left this forum. but in the end, these knowledgeable people that left this forum because they are unhappy for whatever reason, are just useless to me. the best people are people who stay around and try to help out no matter what.

i do wish more knowledgeable stick around and participate. but if people decide to leave then their knowledge is really just useless don't you think? what good does it do anyone?

I don't see it as being sensitive I see it as "PASSION" for the breed. How many times has it been posted that I want to breed my yorkie one time when it's a pet and no health testing is done and some just can't understand why we won't sell with full breeding rights and get called all sorts of nasty things? I call it upholding the YTCA code of ethics and code of conduct. Well, maybe I'm missing those threads where people who don't sell with breeding rights are called nasty names. ALL the threads I've seen where someone posts that they have this miscellaneous yorkie they want to breed, people ALWAYS come in and tell them it's a bad idea. Maybe it's different in the breeding forum, I don't know. I **absolutely** support selling without breeding rights because we have such a pet overpopulation problem.

When I said overly sensitive, to be honest (and you like honesty, right?) I meant starting a thread like this where you say that getting a thread closed is "stiffling". I think it's great if you know a lot about yorkies, I would love to know more. But being knowledgable and passionate does not give you the right to be rude to other people. Not saying that you personally are, just that EVERYONE has to learn about tact and tone. If you are constantly being rebuffed, isn't there just the tiniest possibility that it's your approach, and not a failure of everyone else to listen?

But take this into consideration please....you see some have already posted agreeing with me and I'm assuming do not find me being rude or without having tact. I'm sorry if my honesty when I say stiffling but that is "exactly" how some of us actually feel. Why can't our feelings be taken into account as well as yours? I don't know everything about yorkies and when I think I do then it's time for me to get out of the breeding and showing aspect of it, I've always said that. Those that know me know I'm blunt but tactful. I didn't see this thread as being rude or not tactful but an honest feeling that "SOME" of us actually feel

Just want to say how much I appreciate all you and other breeders like you, who have posted on Yorkietalk. I never would have found Joey or even bought a purebred if it hadn't been for all the advice I read on Yorkietalk. I read hundreds of threads before I ever posted, and found the breeding forum really useful in terms of learning about ethical breeding practices, and why it's important not just for the dog you are buying, but for the future of the breed. I've read some threads and I've wondered how some of you could remain. You in particular, have always struck me as someone who's always learning about the breed and never comes off as a know-it-all, but just tries to share your knowledge. I know it gets frustrating for you, and I just want to give you a big thank you. You have taught many people not only about breeding, but how to choose a good breeder, and I'm trying my best to share with others what I've learned from you, and others like you. You are one of my heros!

Your really need to read more of her threads before you make a comment such as this, she really has the patience of a saint I think. Lots of us are listening to her.

How do you want your feelings to be taken into account? If someone says they are a reputable breeder, it's against the rules to close their thread? I'm seriously asking: what do you want to talk about that you don't get to?

I personally think that "blunt but tactful" is an oxymoron. Maybe you manage to pull it off, in which case, I am truly impressed and want to be you. I guess what is bothering me is that if you tell it like it is... well, of course some people are going to be offended. That's the definition of bluntness. If you can live with offending people, that's up to you, but you can't be rude and AND demand that people ignore it.

Nancy I truely appreciate the vote of confidence I don't know it all and yes I'm still learning but learning from mentors that have been doing this "A LOT" longer than I have. When I make a mistake boy do I ever hear it from my mentors!! I never do anything without asking them first and follow their advice. I won't apologize for the passion I have for this breed! I do not find anything you said rude or not tactful, just voicing (typing) your opinion and feelings. You aren't pointing fingers at anyone, just stating your opinion and voicing mine

i always say how i feel, and i am always prepared for the possibility that my posts/threads might be closed or deleted. i don't see it as being stifled if my posts/threads are deleted. this is a large community, there are rules that must be followed to make sure things run smoothly.

i would probably be pretty mad if my thread/post is deleted or closed. but i would understand or seek to understand why.

i would not attack this forum by saying that reputable breeders are stifled. but that is just me, and i think it's fine if you feel that way and wanted to start a post with a title like that. but you should of course be prepared and not be too surprised if this thread gets closed.

YOU might leave this forum at anytime because you get angry with something here. and not be here to help anyone who needs help.

but YT will still be here and hopefully YT will be here forever to help all those who need help with their yorkies.

If it offends you by all means ignore it, I don't have a problem with it AND you can be blunt and tactful at the same time again my opinion. Please, I don't want anyone to be like me be your own person and do things your way but if I can help in anyway I would be happy too. Again, I want to stress I don't find the title rude...I guess you are going to interput it differently than me and seems a few others seem to agree with me and do not find it rude...but again I respect your opinion.

I think she gives a frank and honest opinion without sugar coating it, this is blunt, but not rude. So you can be blunt and tactful at the same time, tack often requires holding some things back.

Just to be clear, I haven't seen many of your posts, so I'm not saying you have a bad or good approach generally, I don't know. I was going off your statement that people often accuse you of being holier than thou.

i think we are all frustrated.

i am frustrated that knowledgeable breeders are attacked or feel that they are attacked when they say what they think. and i am also frustrated that they decide to leave and not help because they are ticked off.

everyone who is lucky enough to stumble upon this forum needs to stay. to help each other!!!!!
