I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That wouldn't really be true either. The code says they can't advertise, it doesn't say they can't donate to an organization that accepts advertising, but this is a personal decision based on their personal ethics, and when I read her reply that's what I got out of it.

Thor's Human Donating Member | Okay, "my personal interpretation of the YTCA code of ethics prevents me from donating to a site that advertises yorkies." I'm basing this statement off what you said in an earlier post. I'm happy to agree with yorkiepuppie, as long as everyone agrees with ME first! Again, I will say that I don't read all the forums here. I very rarely look at the Breeding section, so maybe I'm missing a bunch of threads where people with no experience are encouraged to breed their yorkies. I do think that when you post to the web, it can feel like you're standing in front of a huge crowd, and they are either booing or applauding you. There's always a tendency to read your own words in the most favorable light (after all, you know exactly what you meant), and if things get heated, assume other the worst in other people. So I am surprised when other people say they feel that their views are always attacked, because from where I sit, responsible breeding is consistently supported. Even in threads like these, I learn something, so I do appreciate people stating their honest opinions.

| I'll be sure to not include you next time. Sorry, I got the impression from your posts that you had extensive breeding experience. I may have to become more perceptive with my reading.

|
Just want to say how much I appreciate all you and other breeders like you, who have posted on Yorkietalk. I never would have found Joey or even bought a purebred if it hadn't been for all the advice I read on Yorkietalk. I read hundreds of threads before I ever posted, and found the breeding forum really useful in terms of learning about ethical breeding practices, and why it's important not just for the dog you are buying, but for the future of the breed. I've read some threads and I've wondered how some of you could remain. You in particular, have always struck me as someone who's always learning about the breed and never comes off as a know-it-all, but just tries to share your knowledge. I know it gets frustrating for you, and I just want to give you a big thank you. You have taught many people not only about breeding, but how to choose a good breeder, and I'm trying my best to share with others what I've learned from you, and others like you. You are one of my heros!
Well said. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | There are assumptions being made about why the other thread was closed, so let me clear that up for you. It was closed not bc of what was being said about selling puppies or ethics. It was closed bc of the disrespectful comments toward YT in general, the comments about our "clueless" members, and how unhelpful the various forums are. That's why it was closed. This forum is a place for learning, but it seems so many folks cannot tolerate those who are trying to learn.

As far as the Featured Breeders section, they pay a fee to be able to advertise their puppies without the puppy age limit. The requirements are not stringent to be a Featured Breeder.

I agree. I wondered about the donation stuff myself. If you feel a board is not worthy of your donation, why do you even bother to come here? Just think, if this board weren't here, you wouldn't be able to "educate and have people brag on how wonderful you are/"' Also, I would like to point out that there are other reputable breeders on this board that don't show for one reason or another and that is their pergoative. | |

|
We have talked to admin about it and they have decided to stay with the advertising. YTCA members would never advertise here or elsewhere, it's forbidden, but you have to remember they are not in the puppy selling business. There really is a difference between selling a dog and placing a dog. I would like to see the "featured breeders" section done a way with too. I thought that that meant they came highly recomended and had passed certain tests and requirements.
nancy, when I became one of the first, if not the first, featured breeder on here, I had to provide access to my guarantee, list my years of experience and etc to admin BEFORE I paid my money. I am not a featured breeder now because I didn't plan on selling my babies on here anymore but did just that recently to a good friend. Also, like the others, I generally have a waiting list. |

Show people are not beyond making mistakes, at the present i have a 23 mo old girl that is in question by akc seems a show breeder didn't get the right sire listed. i am thankful that i believe in waiting until they are near 2yrs old before breeding, so i don't have the problem of having to prove anything. and i am responsible to know who the sire is to any that i raise. I too have found that this isn't always the kindest place for reputable breeders. Oft times people don't want to hear what we have to say, they simply want to do what they want to do. I rarely post anymore because it seems to bring only frustration but I do enjoy looking at the showing section. Here's the link to YTCA as I was once told not to post anything without backing it up, Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Code of Ethics
