| Happy Spring Hello Please get her welping box ready. I hope it has been ready but if not. Get her use to it put her in it for an hour or two at a time many times a day. Put it where you are going to have it and leave it there do not move it around. A quite warm place without traffic. A wood box or a medium size plastic kennel with a clean carpet in the bottom works well some people use new paper. Do not use towels the babies can get lost in the towel and die. Has she been use to a kennel as her room or safe place? I hope so. What so many people do is breed there pets that are use to sleeping with them and the dog wants to have the puppies on the bed not good. I also feed puppy food before and when she has her puppies. You can mix a tablespoon of can puppy food with her dry food and hot water once a day it will help her to have lots of milk sooner which will help the new puppies have lots to eat. i hope this help you. have a Wonderful Spring |

| Thank all of you for your kind words and help. It really means a lot to me. She has been in her whelping box for two days now. I even slept on the couch with her last night...my husband does not allow any dogs in our bed. Her whelping box is in our extra bathroom. This is where she will be staying when the puppies arrive. I have towels in the box for now until the babies come. I've gotten all of her whelping supplies collected in the bathroom, all set up and ready! |

Your point has been made by several people already earlier in this tread. It doesn't do anyone any good to beat a dead horse right now. It's like telling a pregnant teenager to use birth control. Too late. Let's just focus on getting her the advice she needs. Maybe through this experience she will learn a lesson she was meant to learn.

| Pics of my Preggo! Here are three pictures of my baby! Her belly is getting huge. She is getting close! Hope it makes it feel more personal to see pics and not just some dog on the other end of the world. |

| I always love to see pics of little moms-to-be. My girls always get very needy for attention at this time. They feel so vulnerable and need to be re-assured that everything is fine. They know what's coming; their need to trust you is huge. After the whelping is done they're so proud of themselves and they develop a unique bond with you for helping them get through it all. It's a very special time. I don't think anyone here sees your girls as just 'some dogs'. We have all been through this before and truly wish the best for your girls and the 'widdle-widdles' they're carrying. I do hope the breeder you know will be there for you, no matter what time of day your girl decides 'it's time'. There is help here but it's nothing like having someone there with you when the time comes. |

| Swimming pool neo natal unit..... My “neo natal” unit in a swimming pool: This is what I keep always in a box with a sealed lid (as I may get a call in the night to help whelp) Heating Pad Shredded paper Dew Claw Removal Tool (which is generally my fingernail if they are loose) Feeding Tubes Tubes of Calsorb Tube of nutri cal Suction bulb (for noses and mouth) Lots of 4 x 4 gauze pads Sterilized hemostats and Sharp scissors Dental floss Resparitory enhancer MY VETs CELL # (no kidding, I really keep it in the box so I know where to find it) As for a Whelping Box, I like a very small toddler swimming pool filled with old sheets covered with various layers of puppy pads. (I remove soiled pads as needed). My whelping box is always filled with what I need, my “neonatal unit in a box”, covered with plastic and stored…. Patience and prayer, well that you cant buy….. As suggested, "Puppy Intensive Care," "Canine Reproduction and Whelping" and “Practical Genetics for Dog Breeders” |

buy alot of females and breed breed breed. seems to be a trend!!! its no wonder we have a overpopulation of homeless dogs. like i said jmo. poor mommy's. breeding should be taken seriously. not just done for the sake of $$$ or because we want a puppy ect. please don't take this post in the wrong way. I just get very angry when this goes on. go on southeat texas.com and see all the adds for pets for sale it is filled with adds. were these planned maybe for the $$$ but not for the respect of the dog or for the betterment of the breed for that matter. sorry i will be silent for a while. I knew of a breeder who bought a female and she was in season when she bought her and breed as soon as she got home. didn't even get her checked out by the vet to make sure she was healthy no vds ect. that is sick or ignort!!! pick whatever.

The thing that worries/scares me is the amount of breeding that we see everyday on Yorkie Talk. There is a lot of breeding going on. We breed to have something to show and in no way breed the numbers that I see being bred with not much time or experience in the breed or any knowledge of breeding. Just like it happens almost overnight for someone to have 4, 5 or 6 litters Deana Prestigeous Yorkies
