Well IMO they would be far wiser to accept them and to set standards for them. That way they would have control. if not who knows what will happen. But they will always be yorkies, that fact cannot be denied.

And I wouldn't exactly call 500 people a large group. In the past they have ruled by scare tactics. They no longer have the clout they used to have. Breeders are not afraid of them.

Yes, there are black and tan and other variations are taken in the ring.....However, first and foremost we as exhibitor/breeders are responsible for our own lines and if honest with ourselves and breeding to standard, to improve the breed.....our responsibly is to take the judge a good representation of the breeds....After that, it's up to the judge and their preference.

I get your point, but I also get the reasoning behind this statement being made. Again, you are a minority when you consider how many people are breeding off color Yorkies. The majority of those we see are NOT 30 or 40 yr breeding vets, nor did they get their parti stock from those who were. They are dime a dozen scammers, so for the most part, the statment applies.

All the more reason for the YTCA to jump on the band wagon and take control. don't you think?

I agree there are a lot out there that I wouldfn't take if they were given to me. Who knows where they came from.

But Sue and I and Tammy know where ours came from. We cannot control all the other breeders any more than you can control what other traditionsl breeders do.

They still are governing body and holders of the standard....as with any other National Breed Club.....

If one wants to make a difference then become a member and have input, instead of complaining about how a club is run and their clout.....be what may they did change the standard and are the only ones that have that power.

I have no vested interests in this topic one way or another, and although I've looked into it, I'm certainly far from an expert.

But I'm VERY interested to see where the futures of Partis and Beiwers take them. I personally haven't seen many that appeal to me (just my personal preferences), but the ones that do are undeniably gorgeous. I will absolutely love watching and seeing how those lines continue to be developed.

When a say "majority" I mean the majority of off-color breeders that you run accross online. The ones that claim to be 'promoting a standard for them' but can't tell you how they are attempting to do it or answer even the simplest of questions. The majority of the ones we encounter here online (cause that is where we 'are' right now) don't present themselves as anything other than scammers. The generic phrase/claim you hear of "all my dogs are healthy" does not a reputable breeder make.

Honestly,would it be that easy for Jeanie, Sue or myself?? How open would the arms of YTCA be for those of us that breed "off-colors"? You're a member, right? Would you tell them that you, personally, are offering us an invite and welcome us as equals?

In answer to your question the YTCA is now conducting studies with a canine geneticist.....and the findings to this point are very interesting

No, you are right and stating what I've been saying all along. It would not be that easy for you 3 ALONE to get them to take you seriously. Why would anyone re-write a standard for 3 people pushing for it?
There are not enough people UNITED, behind the push to get it recognized. The information and research being presented to them and the AKC is very minimal andn not enough to be taken seriously and considered.

I'm just saying that they are losing power. Breeders are no longer afraid of being banned from breeding/showing etc. Breeders have other options.

If they want to have control over the parti standards then they should get smart and accept them and set the standards themselves, before someone else does.

If one does not evolve they become extinct.

You are basing your claim off the knowledge you have of 2 other breeders?

Where did I say that I was basing anything off of two other breeders?? Look back through my posts and read what I have written, if you must...never have I said this. I have met other breeders beyond the two that you are referring to. You know how I met these breeders....by doing my own research.

I base my opinions on more than what I see online.....

Probably not.....but, that's my point....it does no good to complain...do what is necessary to accomplish what you want.......

By the way it wasn't easy for me to be accepted as a member, it was a process that took 8 months. Granted that no National Breed club is perfect, but it is the governing forum for each breed......

Breeders have always had their options......they are not losing power, they will remain the keeper of the standard and what is acceptable within the breed.....

Believe me they want no control over the parti standard....

That is great news. It means they are actually entertaining the thought that they might really be yorkies after all. It good to know that they are actually taking them seriously.

Then they will either have to accept them, or provide proof that they are not yorkies and in that case set us free to establish our own breed club.

it will be interesting to see if they com to different concklusions than the AKC.
