Yes, there are black and tan and other variations are taken in the ring.....However, first and foremost we as exhibitor/breeders are responsible for our own lines and if honest with ourselves and breeding to standard, to improve the breed.....our responsibly is to take the judge a good representation of the breeds....After that, it's up to the judge and their preference.
