Yorkie Yakker | corn, and generally grain in dog food Hi, I do not trust dry dog food, beacuse of huge amount of corn ingredient in it. I think that from the evolution point of view stomachs of our babies - I mean dogs ;-) are not adjusted to digesting it and dog food industry uses it as it is cheap and easy to make, below I give a link to an article about this. I think it is just as with human food industry, we should really more on what we prepare ourselves! The Truth About Corn in Dog Food Everything about Yorkies - Yorkshire Terriers Naturally: meat vs. dry dog food of popular producer |

| I suggest you read PetDiets - VNC putting your pet's health first .. for more than 20 yrs! to learn the facts. What you have posted is simply nonsense, and current hype and marketing.

| The only reason I wouldn't feed my guys corn is that it's high in the glycemic index...along w/potato. Just my preference.

| I don't think grains are bad for all dogs but I do think there dogs that can tolerate it and ones that can't. Mine gets fed grain free because when we tried a food that was not grain free she broke out bad and I think she would starve in a food trial because she is so picky so we just stay away from grains. I'm not a big fan of corn it's got a lot of sugar in it and just doesn't digest well. I certainly don't think all grains are evil or people who feed them are bad pet parents.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Whole, unprocessed corn s difficult to digest. But what is on dog food is a processed corn meal that is digestible. Like all dog food ingredients, it's possible for a dog to be allergic to it. But just because some dogs are doesn't mean that all dogs are. Instead of hype, choosing your dog's food should come down to picking out the best quality food that your dog tolerates and most importantly, will eat.

This is another issue that the pet owner has to decide what they feel is best for their pet. Saying one side is better than the other is another example of ones belief. I personally would not feed my dog corn and feel that people who say it's good for dogs are in need of education on the other side also. I have opted for a raw diet which I feel is the best choice for my dog. | |

I do agree with you that each pet owner has to decide what they feel is best for their pet. I do not rely upon marketing gimmicks for information. I rely upon professionals who as above give me the advice that is sound and rational that works within my household. Raw diets are not an option for me. I was a biology major in college, and actually got my Bachelors degree in science so I remember how easy it was to grow colonies of bacteria and deal with resistant pathogens. No matter how fresh the food source is (and I have farms here that I buy from each week for food) someone is handling it. With processing comes increased risk of pathogenic bacteria and it is not a risk for me. I have enough issues to worry about. If you are comfortable feeding raw, knowing that each and every meal you feed is a new risk for your dog, then go for it. I think the issue of corn when strategically used in a diet for a dog is not at all relevant to the issue of raw feeding.

| Why do you think she thought you were confrontational? I didn't read taylor's post like that at all. I thought she did a good job to notify you that the Dog Food Advisor = Human Dentist.
