| IDK. His KC did give him bronchitis which they found on exam/x-rays but more films they kept taking but he never did show actual pneumonia at either clinic. Did a culture more than once. My sister was worried sick and kept vetting him over & over to be sure he wasn't dying. He almost had a whooping cough kind of case and just really had a bad case with apparently more than one bug but once he got well, he hasn't been sick since! And he's got a cast iron stomach.

| I know. It's so scary but I guess some bit of extra prevention is better than nothing.

| Why Benadryl? I lean toward injectable but it isn't something I've put a lot of thought into bc we have never vaccinated for it and probably never will. The only time Ellie got KC eas when we adopted Ry. They both had it and are both fine. However, it is not required to hospitalze here, and if it was I'd get out of it with her liver issue if I wanted to. Do what you are comfortable with. A bordetella vaccine is not going to kill him. Just consider that any drug or vaccine can irritate the liver which theoretically can cause a flare (doubt it will ge noticable) and giving unnecessary drugs year after year may make his liver angrier overall. So cut back where you can and trust your get with the rest.

I tend to vaccinate against the most deadly diseases. The other stuff that can be treated with antibiotics, I let go. As the KC vaccine has questionable efficacy, as do all the vaccines against bacterial vectors, I choose not to get this one. Should Your Dog Get Bordetella, the Kennel Cough Vaccine? | Truth4Dogs

Maybe vet fears reaction, but they can react from intranasal too. It isn't a vaccine where dogs tend to go into shock like leto. Fairly benign as far as vaccines go. I don't like all thereports of nasal issues caused by the intranasal vaccine. Benadryl before is not a big deal if it makes vet feel better.

| Either ask the vet to board him without it as medical board or ask for letter from vet stating he can't have it (they won"t agree to do this though) or give it and try not to worry.

| Have you checked into a professional sitter/house watcher? Any relatives that could help? If no, I'd opt for the hospital boarding, or send him to me.... I'll watch him for you for free!

My sister has a dog that is way bigger than Tibbe and he's gotten too aggressive to trust with Tibbe on his territory. My son might not be back from his Florida job in time but he would get here soon as he could. Tibbe would likely just have to be there one night. I'd rather have him stay at the Petco Hotel I think where his preventative-care vet can see him if need be. He'll be right there and the ER vet isn't that far down the road from the hotel. The other vet that boards just has kennels for their boarded dogs.
