Poor little Tibbe. I bet those anals were bugging him. I am glad you get him to the vet when he is uncomfortable. I think when those anals are expressed he will be better. My Yorkies eat sometimes and turn their noses up at times. It has been hot here and mine will not eat when it is hot. I pray little Tibbs will be feeling like his cute self and playing and eating again.

Chipper throws up when his anal glands are full. I cannot express them myself other than get enough out to relieve him until I get him to the vet. Wish you the best. ~Joanne~

Mine do to! They definitely won't eat and just act miserable, hide, no playing, the whole nine yards!

Tibbe's bout of vomiting and being off feed then on a lot of feed can play havoc with their anal glands. They are normally expressed as the poop comes out (that's what makes poop stinky), but an interruption of the eat/poop cycle can cause a build up to occur, then they need a little help till everything gets back on schedule.

Then there are other dogs that never have a problem, no matter what they eat or not!

He was lying on my stomach sleeping, jumped up suddenly and tried to bite at his bottom and ran to get into his airline carrier, which always stays between the couch and the wall in a corner of the room. I got him out and felt his anal glands - felt full and hard. I tried expressing them and got a bit of liquid and odor but not that much. I have gently tried a couple more times but still feel the fullness there. If I ask him if he wants me to "scratch his butt", which is what I called expressing his anals, he comes running and sort of presents his bottom area to me!

Wonder if he was just not eating or drinking or playing early because his bottom was hurting and I thought it was from his tummy/liver? Wonder if anal gland discomfort can cause a dog to feel bad? He's not scooting at all or even really going after his bottom the way I've seen dogs with really bad anals do in the past. But with Tibbe - it never takes much of a problems before he's showing you symptoms of some kind. Anyway, we'll be at the vet again tomorrow and this time for his anal glands to see if they are maybe his reason for not eating/drinking for the first half of the day. Hooray! Maybe this wasn't his liver/GI troubles! Hoping and crossing my fingers that it could be something that simple for a change.
Hi Jeanie, I've been following Tibbe's story and I'm so sorry he's still not feeling well. I just happen to get this article below through my email and it reminded me of Tibbe. The second site I found through doing a little research.
I'm praying these articles may provide you with some answers and help for Tibbbe.

The vet said his anal sacs were still very full so she fixed him up. He's been quite hungry, playful and zesty ever since. Quite fiery again - so good to see him being his little toot self. Just now he totally barked me out until I got up and got him some more food, wanted still more after I gave him quite a bit but I'm keeping his portions still a little smaller than usual. He's just finished his Metronidazole yesterday and had his Hartguard Monday so we're taking it easy on his meal portions, etc., still.

The vet's office wanted to give him his Bordatella today but I just wouldn't agree, as I wanted the injectable kind and the vet wants to use Benadryl with it. That's just all a little much right now on the heels of his recent upsets/diarrhea and being on Metronidazole, taking his Heartgard Monday so we're letting his liver, tummy and GI tract rest a while before we think about Bordatella.

Those of you that use it, are you all giving your little ones injectable Bordatella with Benadryl first?

Darling Tibbe I am so glad he is feeling better! I am so glad you make your own decisions about your Tibbe's health. I would not give him that shot now either. He has been through so much and his little system doesn't need more stuff. Why bordetella? Do you send him to a kennel? I do not give mine that shot. They never are boarded and my groomer comes to my home so they never go out to the pet shops. I am so thankful Tibbe is his sweet Yorkie self!

Poor Tibbe...I'm keeping the both of you in my prayers.

I tell you, the whole whether to have Jasper's anal glands expressed or not is so confusing to me. He shows no signs of needing it. But, when I research and read about how they can rupture it scares me. But, I don't want to do that if he doesn't them done either. Ugh...I just don't know. I'm so, so glad Tibbe is better though.

Just saw this and caught up on Tibbe. I am so glad he is feeling better. I am so sorry that he and you have to deal with his GI/liver issues. Poor baby. Jeanie I hope your head is feeling better and remember to take care of yourself too as not eating can cause you problems and add being jittery to your stress. I always gate Buster off from the kitchen because he is like greased lightening if something is dropped. I would also wait and let his system get back to normal before getting the Bordatella vaccine.
HAPPY BELATED 6th BIRTHDAY SWEET TIBBE!!!

If Jasper hasn't had a problem, I would continue to let him express his glands naturally. Neither of my boys have to have it done manually. There is a thread about this in the poll forum. Some pups need it, others don't.

Tibbe is driving me crazy being a scamp today! He's back to his old self and feeling very feisty. Driving me crazy with his WANTING things this morning. Well, more like DEMANDING things this morning. He's after me to play, get him things, chase him, get him kibble treats and do his training! Just barks me out if I don't act immediately and WHO can resist that tiny, fuzzy, too-cute, smiling face standing way down there on the den floor demanding its "rights"? Not me! It's not going to be a quiet day around here today and I love it! This is the "old Tibbe" - driving me nuts and always on the go. This is the way it should be!

Yay Tibbe! Haha.... So glad to hear this.

On the vaccine... if it's not core don't... vaccs are processed through the liver, maybe titer something to see if he has protection .... if you insist I would not do the intranasal bordetella. Been hearing and reading that this B vacc can cause the disease...IDK.

I've heard so many bad things about the Bordetella nasal vax and yet my sister's poor dog Tavi almost died from kennel cough complications and the care of two different vets trying to get him well again. He was ill for over 6 weeks with it and gravely ill in ER at times. He coughed so long and so hard and lost so much weight it was very scary. So KC scares me silly after seeing Tavi go through such a tough time with it. I don't board him except when I have to be in the hospital and I might be having surgery this fall so he'll have to have a Bordetella and time to build immunity. But with the Bordetella injection vax, we need Benadryl and that scares me with his liver MVD. I hate making decisions!
