| Why am I ALWAYS starving? So I've drastically changed my lifestyle in the last couple weeks and I've lost 9 pounds. I cut out soda completely. I don't eat any junkfood anymore. I'm consuming around 1,600 calories daily and working out at least an hour every day. At what point...after x many days....WHEN is my body going to accept that this is enough food to be satisfied, and sustained? I realize I was way, WAY overeating before. I am changing that. I know its my fault, I told my body it needed all this junk to be satisfied and now my tummy is always mad at me for starving it!! I just feel starving, CONSTANTLY. I mean to the point that I feel like I can't remember the last time I was "full". Don't be alarmed, I am eating. I'm not literally starving. It's pathetic. Basically, is there any way I can feel more full? What foods are the most filling without being heavy in calories? What are some great snacks? I've been snacking on lots of veggies. Drinking tons and tons of water. I get headaches from being so hungry but I am trying to reset my diet so that I don't feel the urge to just keep eating. I don't know what else to do.

| You need to drink LOTS of water. It will fill the hole you are feeling in your tummy, until your tummy adjusts. Make sure that you are spreading those calories throughout the day. Figure out when you are really in need of a snack and put one in your schedule at that time. Dont give up |

| I am drinking so much water I feel like I may burst...but only immediately after I drink it. Then the fact that I feel so hungry makes me crave really indulgent, bad stuff like mozzarella sticks haha.

| Lol mozza sticks can't be good for a healthy diet!! Although i was told that it is better to occasionally indulge then forbid everything forever! Are you spacing your meals so those calories are coming thru an extended period of time?

| It sounds like you need to add more protein and dense carbs to your diet. The veggies are pretty much 'free foods'. You're doing a great job of staying hydrated, but exercising without sufficient protein is starving your muscles of the energy they need. The key is finding a good balance that works for YOU! Take baby steps and build good habits as part of your lifestyle. Also, try a website such as fitday.com. You can keep a food diary and it will give you a chart of the calories, fat, protein, etc. that you are eating. You can then tweak your diet to reach goals. Some good healthy foods to consider: Oatmeal, almonds, hard cheese like sharp cheddar, avocado (heart healthy fat!), hard boiled eggs, whole grain breads, brown rice, natural peanut butter. Replace lettuce and pickles on sandwiches with fresh spinach and sliced cucumber. Finally, indulge in moderation every once in a while! It's good for the soul. Good luck and don't get discouraged!

| When I was starving I always had a boiled egg until I got older and then went off eggs for a long time. Now that they are said not to be so bad, I eat a boiled or scrambled egg again for energy and when really empty and one does the trick. Low calories and lots of protein and gives you comfort and energy, nice & filling.

I stay full a lot longer when I eat foods higher in protein...if I have scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast or a cheese omelet and bacon I stay full past noon. I drink water with every meal and in between...you don't have to chug a big glass all at once but water spaced out evenly will help keep you full. Fiber helps too. When I have a snack on peanuts, almonds or cashews I put them in a 3oz. Dixie cup (not even filled) and I find that is plenty to fill me up and it helps control the amount of the snack. If I eat a salad I make sure it also includes a protein source like chicken or tuna and then I ad some veggies (warm meat and veggies over salad is good!) shredded cheese and Bleu Cheese dressing...my favorite. You can be creative with your salads. I've never been a big bread or pasta eater so I don't miss those things. If you are dieting and always hungry you will fail...it's that simple...you need to adjust what you're eating so you're satisfied at mealtime. And you have to allow yourself to cheat but schedule a day to cheat and remain moderate...don't cheat all day and try to play catch up after that but have a favorite desert or fast food meal one time a week or something...you can't totally deprive yourself or, again, you will fail. Trust me...been there...learned that! Good luck! | |

| Yes, definitely add more protein! Your body is telling you it's hungry, but what it really needs is more protein. Are you consuming dairy? Have a whey protein shake afterwards.

| Keep at it Carmen!!! I did that 2 years ago and it took a while to reset my body's ideas of being full. I was use to eating everything I felt like and not moving much. I used a calorie counting app (according to which by my size and lifestyle I need 1200 daily to safely lose weight). It took at least a month to get use to that. I decided to indulge one day and didn't even make it halfway through a dish I would normally finish. My favorite go to snacks are fruits (cause I adore the sweets) and popcorn. Whole Foods makes this delish cheese popcorn that's about 100 calories for 3 cups. I carry 2 sandwich bags with 1.5 cups each of the yummy popcorn. It's so delish and all the munching actually feels good. (If that makes sense) Trader Joe's also has a guilt free popcorn. That one is good too but has less flavor.

| My go to snacks have been oatmeal, almonds, eggwhites, and salads with chicken breast! It does help. I have been eating very, very small portions with snacks inbetween. I actually feel like I'm eating too many snacks although they are low cal snacks like a handfull of plain cheerios, apples with a little pb etc. Pinterest is my bff for diet ideas. Right now I'm eating a salad with 3 oz grilled chicken breast, a couple olives, some egg whites,a little feta, sundries tomatoes and vinegar lol.

| How much protein are you eating, though? Even though you may think you're eating a lot, you may not be. I always thought I ate enough protein until I started keeping a food diary. I wasn't eating close to enough...whoops, lol

Ya know I was a vegan for 8 years and during my childhood I was always anemic, so being vegan only made that worse. I figured now that I eat meat I must be getting a good amount of iron and protein but working out like this, I should make sure I really am getting enough.

| Same here! I've been on and off vegetarian since I was 2...then for the last 4 years vegan. I've been eating white meat for the last few months so it's a different type of protein. I'd recommend keeping track of it for a couple of days and see if you're eating enough. Maybe you are, may you are not...and if you're not you've found out why you're always hungry. Et voila! If you are getting enough, then there's something else.
