| What do you think is the best diet pill and why? Everyone seems to choose a different one. Just curious.

| Honestly I don't believe in diet pills, there seems to always be a side effect years down the road that are settled with a class action law suit. I am a believer in eating right and exercise. I workout six days a week and eat "bad" things in moderation (bad but they are so good).

The old saying, "You cannot get something for nothing". The same goes with dieting. I have seen far too many cases involving diet-pill-shot-disasters. I prefer to earn my weight loss, the good old-fashioned-sweating-my-a$$-off way. | |

| Best Diet pill is to work out 5 times a week for an hour a day, and to cut back on your caloric intake. Walking is great to lose weight. You may also want to consider the Cookie Diet. However, the older you get, the harder it is to drop the weight. Genetics also have a large impact. Now drop and give me 50. |

| I think the best diet pill is self discipline, if you have this, you'll know how to control yourself, you'll do exercise even though you hate it and you'll refuse to everything that is bad to your health |

| I have the same thought as everyone else, there is no such thing as a good diet pill! It's about portion control & exercise! Trying to take any short cuts or speed it up, usually brings back what you lose + more!

I mostly agree with what others have said. But, with my history as a nurse...my heart really goes out to people who are medically obese, and have lost all hope. In cases like this, if there is a safe and efficacious pill that could help get them going in a program - I'm all for it. Some who suffer from obesity have something truly wrong, genetically - and therefore, the usual "healthy eating+exercise" may hardly work for them. As for over the counter...I've never read about anything that can do what it says...and the marketing claims really play into people's emotions about their bodies. One supplement that has some studies behind it (studies that are appropriate and valid) is the EGCg in green tea. One brand that makes a good one (standardized for the extract, and proper amounts) is by Now Foods. Green Tea (the EGCg) is great for you heart health and many other things too .

| I'm a fan of the Master Cleanse, Lemonade Diet. It's not a pill. While it appears radical to most, it's a healthy way to cleanse and detox your body of all "the bad stuff" ie, sugar, caffeine, etc. Once you complete the Lemonade Diet (5+ days), not only will you have lost weight, but your body will feel absolutely amazing. Mentally, you won't want to eat bad food anymore because both your mind and body go through a change. The Master Cleanse Directions and Ingredients to the Lemonade Diet But, sure exercise and common sense eating probably is the healthiest recipe.

| Fenfluramine/Phentermine They don't allow Dr's to prescribe this anymore but I took it for almost 2 years with a strict Dr oversight and it worked for me. I did not loose it fast but at steady rate of 2 pds a week and if I started to loose it any faster my Dr had a fit! I was sent to a nutritionist and a medical fitness guy, as well. My blood was drawn monthly and I was only given one month's supply per visit for 6 months. At 6 months it went to every 2 months and then at a year I think it went to 3 months until the FDA put a stop on it. I haven't always been heavy but I have always struggled with it. Infact, I would (today) say that at one point I was a bit anorexic and a little obsessed with exercising. Taking these pills was the first time I had EVER felt full. Crazy as it may sound - it's the truth. Some people just don't have that chemical working the way it should. The best part was that when I started loosing weight - I felt better - I wanted to do more - and I got healthier. Unfortunately, as with many diseases or illnesses, if you don't continue the meds - you end up where you started. I hope that in the very near future that they decide to allow this to be dispensed again. While it affected a few people adversely, it truly helped more. This is not for someone wanting to loose 20 pounds - it's for medically obese people - 100+ pounds overweight.

Pills just scare me. My Mom took one of the diet pills that you could get only from a Dr. years ago ( not phen phen ) and had real complications. It made me never touch a diet pill ever. I was obese, 250lbs actually and I lost 120lbs on Weight Watchers, so I do know how hard it is and it was the best thing I've ever done!

I agree that Phen-Fen should probably still be on the market. Moot point, I guess.
