| Dyson DC14 I'm thinking about picking one of these up. Although we live in a 700sq/ft apartment with all hardwood floors and our furbaby doesn't shed, it is quite dusty and we want one that'll last "forever". I've read on YT about how everyone raves about it and wouldn't consider something else. But I've read some other reviews about how it's not good for area rugs and that the rotating brush just stops or makes a noise. Has anyone had any problems with carpets, floors, etc.? Any other info./incidents/stories would be great.

| I have a DC-07 Animal and yes, it makes a horrible noise when you get the edge of a rug caught. But I think it's supposed to. It lets you know you better pull your rug out in case your not paying attention. Just turn it off then back on and the noise is gone. I love mine and wouldn't trade it.

| I Too Have A Dyson - I Would Not Have Any Other, I Have All Carpets And I Honestly Believe That A Dyson Prolongs The Life Of Your Carpet, As Well As Keeping Them Looking Nice Too. You Would Be Amazed At What Comes Out Of Your Matresses When You Vacume - It Is Unbelievable........ But You Sure Feel Better Afterwards..

| How is the emptying of the canister? Does everyone have the problem of the dust/debris/dirt "flying" all over the place when emptying it? Does some dirt/hair still remain in the canister and need to be removed by hand?

| Not me. Just put the canaster down in the bag. You can hold the bag around the top if you want. Everything comes out. I rinse it out every once in a while, but I don't have to reach in and pull out any leftovers.

| Ok, that's good to hear. This is the site I've been reading reviews on The DC14, epinions http://www99.epinions.com/pr-Dyson_D..._~1/pa_~1#list One reviewer said pet/human hair would get caught in the rotating brush and they'd need to shut the unit down to cut away at it to remove the "clog". Anyone have problems with this?

| I had a DC14 and now have a DC17 - cuz my mom liked my DC14 so much I gave it to her and got myself a new one. I couldn't say more about the Dyson altogether. It's a wonderful vacuum. If you had carpet, I'd tell you that you'd pick up stuff out of the carpet that you would have never known was there. Since you don't, I'll just tell you that when I use it on my laminate, I use the attachments to get in the corners and up around the crown molding in my rooms. I also have the soft dusting brush attachment and use this to dust all the furniture in the house as well as electronics, window sills, anything with dust on it. Never once have I had a problem with my canister not emptying all the way, nor have I had a problem with dust flying up when I'm emptying the canister. Course you have to be smart when emptying the canister. Don't hold the canister at the top of the trash can - hold it down in the trash can before pushing the release button so that air circulating in the room doesn't grab the dirt and debris coming out of the canister and strow it everywhere. It's really, really an awesome machine. I would be lost without my Dyson.

if you have long hair (and my daughter and I both do) ... it will get caught in the rotating brush, but we had that same problem with every vacuum (including the 400-500$ Oreck) ... but once you cut away at it, you are back to the greatest vacuum ever. On one of the sell this home shows, the girl said to vacuum the rugs with a really good vacuum and she was using the yellow DYSON ... did Dyson pay for that product placement? Who knows? But I would imagine they couldn't say it if they did not think it were true! She even mentioned pet hair.

| There are a couple things that are --must have, mess with under penelty of death things. They are: My New Beetle My Mac G4 power book My kitchen-aide mixer Milo Murphy and my DYSON! I heart my dyson. I have three cats--one is a himalyn/persian and Milo. I live in a crew house with central vac-- which does nothing--I had my son do an emergency run to the house in NH for the Dyson. It was a long 2 week wait. |

| I bought the DC17 Animal and LOVE it too! This is the best vacuum I have ever had. It is not good on area rugs, unless they are held down with furniture, because it has such a good suction it wants to pick them up. I have a large, thick area rug under my coffee table and it works fine on that but any of the small rugs, forget it -- tries to suck them up. I do not think I would spend the money on it if you don't have carpet. Get a smaller, lighter weight Oreck for less money and it will work just as good on bare floors. But if anyone has carpet -- I would definately recommend the Dyson -- I cannot believe the stuff I am still getting out of my carpet!
