I had a DC14 and now have a DC17 - cuz my mom liked my DC14 so much I gave it to her and got myself a new one. I couldn't say more about the Dyson altogether. It's a wonderful vacuum. If you had carpet, I'd tell you that you'd pick up stuff out of the carpet that you would have never known was there. Since you don't, I'll just tell you that when I use it on my laminate, I use the attachments to get in the corners and up around the crown molding in my rooms. I also have the soft dusting brush attachment and use this to dust all the furniture in the house as well as electronics, window sills, anything with dust on it. Never once have I had a problem with my canister not emptying all the way, nor have I had a problem with dust flying up when I'm emptying the canister. Course you have to be smart when emptying the canister. Don't hold the canister at the top of the trash can - hold it down in the trash can before pushing the release button so that air circulating in the room doesn't grab the dirt and debris coming out of the canister and strow it everywhere. It's really, really an awesome machine. I would be lost without my Dyson.
