It is easy to empty. I just hold the cannister down in the tall kitchen garbage can and release -- everything comes out. I don't have to stick my hand in. I can see I will have to rinse it out occasionally because you can see the dusty inside but that is not a priority for me. I am still in awe over what it sucks out of the carpet. My carpet is not even all that old!

| I bought mine at Best Buy. You can usually find a coupon online to save at least 12%, sometimes more. They also have them at Linen's N Things, Target, Home Depot, and lots of places online.
