Default Banfield Pet Hospital is the ABSOLUTE WORST

I am so angry and frustrated right now! I used to be a total fan of the Wellness Plan at Banfield Pet Hospital, found in most Petsmarts but now I am at my wits end with them. They just cancelled my plan!

First they called me telling me it was time for me to bring Bleu in for his comprehensive ezam but that I had to drop him off because they couldn't do it with me there, which I didn't understand at all. So after going back and forth as to why, against my better judgement, I agreed. Then they called me back the day before I was to drop him off to tell me they needed to reschedule and scheduled for a day that I could go in with him. They said initially that I couldn't stay because the exam would take so long but then, basically retracted that. I took him in and they gave him a half-ass exam and sent us on our way. As I looked over the brochure I saw the description of what the comprehensive plan was supposed to include and began to ask, well what was this test and that exam and why wasn't it done during his exam? The person at the front desk said, "oh, that's what they did when the vet took him in the back"....but she never took him in the back. Long story short, she did not give him the full exam and had a major attitude with me for even asking about what was and wasn't done.

When I got home, I called Banfield's corporate office and let them know what had happened. Today, two days later, I got a call saying that my plan has been cancelled and all the money that I have paid so far toward his Castration, which was included in the plan, is lost. THEN, when I asked to speak to a supervisor after the customer service rep couldn't help me, the supervisor refused to get on the phone. Not one time did I raise my voice, or act irate, or give them any reason to say that I was being difficult. They just did not care and told me that they can start me on another plan, extending my contract, at another location....yeah right! I am soooo disappointed at the way I have been treated! So much for customer service!

How frustrating that must've been...sorry to hear it happened to you. Is that Wellness Plan like pet insurance? I've been undecided as to whether or not to get pet insurance for my babies. I've heard a bunch of mix reviews...some say it's worth and others say it's a waste of money

NOW THAT IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE!!!
First I would contact the Better Business Bureau, then you call corporate back and ask to speak with a supervisor and let them know you have contacted the BBB. I would demand my money back. By contacting the BBB, they will either have to make things right, or a bad mark goes on their name. I would also contact my local newstation and tell them, here we have local channels that will report when consumers are treated unjust in order to help the consumer...just an idea.

That is so bizarre!!! I cannot understand this! I have the Banfield for Marcel, just bc I love their deal for the 1st year.

Have you tried calling back the cust. serv. line and asked for a senior supervisor? If it were me, I would continue to push for a supervisor - my gosh, you deserve an explanation for this truly bizarre behavior!

That is absolutely unbelievable! I am so sorry you are having to deal with such horrible service. I agree with the other posts, keep calling. They should not be able to get away with that.

I'd also file a complaint with your state attorney general's office.

I'm not a fan of pet insurance because I've heard too many stories of plans not being renewed once there is a problem, but I've never heard of one being cancelled halfway through.

I've heard a lot of complaints about Banfield's wellness plan, mainly that it is expensive for the care you get if you really break it down.

I agree here. I would also call the manager of PetsMart and tell that person what happened. I think Banfield just rents space and is not connected to Petsmart but it sure is giving them a bad name and they should know.

To cancel you is unacceptable. Take it to the Pope if you have to but get answers and money back. Good Luck

Wow, that's terrible, but I would not give up. Call them back and tell them that you did not ask to be cancelled, and tell them the whole story...

i personally do not like Banfield. I work with a girl who used to work at Banfield and she told me they do not use the best products. They only use products endorsed by banfield and they also require vaccines and tests that are not needed.

Thanks so much everyone! I have called the corporate office of Petsmart and everyone at Bansfield from the supervisor over customer service to the CEO and I even had my attorney call. Within an hour another vet from another location called but she said that she would have to get back to me so I haven't really gotten a solution yet. However I did make them aware that if this wasn't resolved soon, they would have the tv stations at their doors and a lawsuit on their hands.

I used to love them too...before this happened. In fact, if I hadn't looked at the plan description I would still like them because I would be unaware of their negligence in giving a proper comprehensive exam.
