| My boyfriend told me he didn't like my dog.... We live together and I just got Skip Sunday. He is 7 months old and very shy. He didn't have much human interaction. He is healthy and he runs around when we got outside. My boyfriend trys to play with Skip but Skip doesn't play. He just sits and looks when you call him. Please tell me what to do to get him out of his shyness!! |

| Was his name already Skip or is he adjusting to a new name? As for the boyfriend not liking him. He's new to your family, he's still young and he's in a new place with new people....he needs time to adjust...he'll play in time....tell him to keep trying because it's good for the baby, it will help him trust your boyfriend.

| I'm sorry...I don't really know what to tell you, but others here can probably help you better! He's probably still trying to ajust to his new setting. I would maybe to take him to puppy training classes, and get him very well socialized. Take him everywhere with you. I'll bet he warms up after a couple weeks! Good Luck. He's sure a cutie! | give him time and he will come around. And if you boyfriend really wants for skip to like him and not be shy then all he can do is love on him and be patient or else the dog will sense your bf doesnt like him! |

| He will play soon!:) Don't worry, he will play soon, and will just want to continue playing. Our ceasar was the same and I remember thinking this is going to be no fun for the kids, within a couple days less than a week, he was all over playing and jumping. They are very playful dogs. Your boyfriend is sure to fall in love soon. |

| skip Have tons of patience, my first three were rescues, so this taught me a lot. He will come around, but like it was said in another reply, he will sense it if your boyfriend does not like him, that same puppy being with you at a young age, would be all together different... He needs time to adjust, and feel comfortable, they all at an older age take different times. Depending on how it was for them previously. He will have you guys trained in no time, most yorkies do...just kidding!!! He will be fine as two of the three of my first yorkies had been abused, much harder but we did it, and were well rewarded. I bet he will even do more to please you as he will be so happy to now be loved and in a forever home. |

| It takes time for the dog to feel comfortable. If your boyfriend doesn't like the dog, the dog will pick up on that and be more timid and scared. Good luck!! I'm sure your pup will start feeling more comfortable soon.

| I've had mine for 3 months now. At first she was shy and then she started being more playful. Now she is a total whack-o nut. She goes crazy when she sees us. She only started madly licking me about 3 weeks ago. Give it a lot more time. Good luck with him.

| Well, you know, the good thing about boyfriends is that they don't have to be permanent!

Don't worry, everything will work out with you and your little Skip. Give him EXTRA love during this transition in his life, extra hugs and extra kisses. All your efforts will be richly rewarded because these little dogs are an exceptionally loving and beautiful breed. Best of luck to you.

| Where did he come from? Where did you get Skip? Did he come from a kennel/breeder? I've dealt with a lot of rescues and the rescues that came to me were from backyard breeders or puppymills. They dont' know how to play or interact. Some don't even know what grass is and are afraid of it and of toys because they lived their whole life in a kennel or crate. You need to have a lot of patience and love. All this has to be taught to them. These dogs turn out to be the best because they are so appreciative of the life they now have. Just go slow and work with him slowly. Hands coming at him to play or toys being thrown to him may be scary for awhile. Sometimes it takes a Good year for them to come around and sadly the older dogs that come from places like this never adapt. Your baby is young and should adjust fine and quickly. Quickly meaning six months or so, but you have patience with him and show him love etc. Best of luck to you. Elaine |

| Your boyfriend will be in love with him before long. He just needs time to adjust. A good way for them to bond is to have him teach Skip comands later on.
