| My In-laws use petsmart and petco for grooming. They know about the deaths because I have told them. It comes down to the attitude many people have about even their own health...."it won't happen to me."

| I have never used a chain store for grooming for 3 reasons. 1-I want my pups to get use to one person handling them so they won't be afraid when they go. 2-these chain store groomers have no investment in the business, they couldn't care less if they give the dog a good or bad hair cut. 3-you never get the same groomer Now with these deaths I would never use them. I believe it's carelessness of the groomer. Didn't a dog die because the so called groomer put the dog in the blower crate and forgot the dog was there, the dog was found DEAD.

| I used to use Petco with Callie and the groomer I used was better then any groomer at a private grooming place. I also never feared for my dog at that Petco either. I think it honestly depends on the groomer and the store.

| May be "not true" in your area, not so in "my" area. I have heard this many times from ppl that have / had used used a chain store groomers. I personally choose to use a private groomer that owns their business, "my choice". You're lucky you to had the same groomer for a year.

| I never had much experience with Petsmart just Petco but I knew a groomer who worked for them for a long time so I figured she was and could have been specifically asked for. I noticed at the Petco it seemed to always be the same people. Eventually I switch to a mobile groomer worked best for us because with three it’s harder. I still have not seen a groomer groom Callie has well as the groomer from Petco she was awesome.

| My comment came across harshly and I did not intend it to. Sorry, I was short on time, and posted too succinctly. The feeling this kind of thing will not happen to us is a common occurrence among us all. I believe all of us have something we should do, yet we do not because the risks seem so minimal that we just assume the worst will not happen to us. For example, checking the air pressure and tread for our tires regularly to prevent blow outs, seeing a doctor every single year, etc...... We all want to believe the best the possible outcome will happen. Sadly, sometimes that simply does not happen.

| I am in sc/nc and my daughter started her job in PetSmart and worked her way all over store until she got the position in grooming and they sent her to school. She always was very professional and loved what she did.. never any complains on her.. now she is a vet tech at banfeild in PetSmart and is very good at it too. But she does still go and groom on the side. And still has loyal customers. And they never have a complaint.. niether do I.. she is my personal groomer also with my Yorkie. She bought him for me..I think u have to find the one groomer who has their whole heart in it , I don't think it is the company fault.. they gave my daughter a way to learn and do what she loves and it shows in her work.. guess I am lucky my baby knows his groomer. Honestly I would start taking applications for the best groomer if I had to..lol alot of groomers is just making a buck and don't love it.. or they did it thinking it was what they wanted and found out different.. |

| Chloe my little yorkie who passed away last year went to PetSmart once and only once. I picked her up and she had a top knot. When I removed it I saw a fairly large cut on her head. I called to complain and they insisted it happened at home. Seriously how does a pup get a cut under a top knot? I never took her there again. Sophie my new furbaby goes to the most amazing groomer. I have never met a groomer so fiercly protective and loving with dogs. Sophie adores her. The last time I went to get her she was asleep inside Katy's coat all snuggled up. I got very lucky finding her <3 |

| Some of us live in a place where there are no mobile groomers or any experienced, stable private groomers. We only have a Petsmart (no Petco). My husband and I typically groom both our boys; however, we do take them to Petsmart every once in a blue moon. We take him to the same guy, and he is the only one who is allowed to groom them. He calls the minute they are finished for us to come and get them. He is sensitive to Zeus having had LCP and that his left leg/hip "gives out," so he does him in two separate intervals with time to rest in between. While Zeus is resting, he cuts Perseus. He has Yorkies at home himself, so he loves the breed. If he ever leaves, I would probably not trust anyone else even though it's the same people at our Petsmart since it opened. Just wanted to point out that not everyone has choices, which is why we typically groom our own babies. |

| Grooming your own babies is the best way to go!! Saves money, more bonding time, and safer! And, practice makes pawfect. It's okay when they don't look good the first few tries.
