| Big Squirt from Rascal Dog Litter Box Co. I'm up in the back corner of a condo. building in the city... I set up a litter box in the back corner in my bedroom so Riley has access to a potty area if he really needs to use it while I'm gone. Instead of using the litter, I use the pads in the box. I trained him on the pads first but he is also trained to go outside. I was using the Purina Second Nature Litter Box but the opening was not very big so he would have to jump into it to use it. What he started doing was standing outside of it but lifting his leg and aiming to pee onto the pad. I now have the Big Squirt Litter Box from Rascal Dog Litter Box Company. I decorated it by wrapping the sides in leopard duct tape I found at Target. I didn't purchase the grass and I took the grates out and only have the pads in it. [I Have Attached A Pic. ...] RASCAL DOG LITTER BOX COMPANY, L L C HOME PAGE I order a big box from YT Member Ryan of New Puppy Pads: Puppy Pads - Puppy Training Pads - Dog Pee Pads - Dog Wee Wee Pads - Pish Pads I also have a Diaper Genie for the used pads so there is no smell, at all, in my place. |

| My hubby made a little contraption for me out I plexi glass.... It has "walls" on 2 sides about 8 inches high and a floor. I then put our washable pee pads in it. I have one who does hike his leg, but now he can happily hike an it still lands on the pee pad.

| The diaper genie thing seems like a great idea. Theresa do you fold the used pad when you put it in the genie? I despise the scent of urine....I think this could really be a life saver!!

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Katie Scarlett has a PTPA (potty training puppy apartment). She only potty's in there now. And I think it being enclosed like it is helps her a lot. It is like she is closed in a little room and knows to pee on the pad. But now Mollie (Mom's Maltese) potty's on the pad. We do not have it in a holder, but I'm thinking we need to try it. She also pees right on the edge of the pad and it goes off sometimes. I have one of those plastic clip in holders from Wal Mart. I may try that and see if it helps.

| I may try it again, even if it is just so I don't have to hose the deck daily. I thought about trying one I saw Victoria Stillwell use. It had real grass and a little fake hydrant in the center. It was really cute and the dogs seemed to "get it" right away, but I'm sure that all the "misses" were edited out for tv

He will occasionally use it when I am home and it is soooo Cute! I will know if he has used it because he will run to me and Bark to let me know he has used it!! LOL!!!! I haven't had any problems with him when we go visiting or are out he will hold it and go outside... I have a few belly bands but have never had to use them. It's like if he knows there is no potty pad, then he knows he needs to hold it and go outside....??! Ohhh I also do the same thing, outside! Will act all crazy and make a scene like it's the Best thing in the world he has ever done! LOL!! He gets all Happy!!

I love your fashionable setup and Riley is such a good boy. We do the same as you -- throw a party when the guys do their business, indoors on the pad and outdoors! They love the praise. When my brothers visit, they have a good time praising the doggies too. Max and Teddy are like Riley, they know that there are no pads at other people's houses or in other indoor places.

It's True... they can be quite stubborn but are Smart little cookies!! You just need to let them know where it is okay to go. If you catch them going someplace else, make a sharp loud ahhh ahhh kind of sound, while clapping hands and then immediately take them to where it is appropriate to go. When they do go where they are supposed to go, Praise like Crazy!! I agree you may have to build some sides to the potty area. I can tell Riley likes the Big Squirt much better than that Purina Second Nature litter box he first started with... The Big Squirt has a nice amount of room. Good Luck!!

| I use pee pad holders with Coco. I have the ones sold at Petsmart and they work well for us. I have 3 around the house. |
