| Is breeding a 11lb male with a 4lb female a No-No?? A buddy of mine at the gym has a 4lb female yorkie. I was curious if it would be dangerous for the female if we breed her with my 11lb male yorkie, Newton. If it is risky, but there are steps one could take to prevent complications, please let me know. Thanks! Mike |

| Neuter the 11 lb male yorkie. He is not within the standard. The 4 lb female needs to be spayed, it would be dangerous to breed a dog that small no matter what size the male is let alone an 11 lber! Just imagine being mounted by someone to breed that was almost 3 times YOUR size! Leave the breeding to experts and spay and neuter your pets.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | a 4 Pound female should NOT be bred AT ALL, she is small, and you risk a higher chance of loosing her at whelping. |

An 11 lb male bred to a tiny 4 lb female has the potential to produce large puppies , too large for female to give birth too. Which could be fatal for mom and babies. I would speak to a someone who has extensive experience in breeding dogs before attempting breeding this pair.. There are some breeders on here so hopefully you will get some more responses.. | |

| Please don't breed the 4lb Yorkie she is sooooo small. It would be dangerous for her and potentially life threatening. They shouldn't consider breeding her period.

| He could rupture her insides with a tie. Can't even imagine why anyone would want to breed a tiny 4 pound dog in the first place, and especially to a 11 pound dog. That's inhumane and cruel. She should be spayed ASAP and he should be neutered.

| PLEASE do not breed these two. They both should be fixed and loved as pets. You don't want to lose the female, do you?

Of course that is even before we get into health screening, testing, and having your dog evaluated if it is breed worthy. Yes the steps to take is DO NOT BREED then no complications An 11lb Yorkie is 50% over the weight limit for the Standard. Did you ever get any of the genetic and or health tests on him? Did he ever finish his CH prior to him getting so big?

| I would hope that it would be common sense not to breed a female so small to any male, much less to a male that is twice her size! |

| Ok Thanks for the quick replies We won't breed the two, don't worry. I couldnt handle hurting any creature (in this case a small baby) on my own conscious. It seemed like it wouldn't be a good idea to begin with. I was just verifying what "common sense" was telling me. Thx Last edited by sepulchralx; 03-21-2012 at 09:24 AM. |

| Im glad you are heeding the warnings and hope you arent offended if there are some harsh posts. Some people do it even though they were warned or knew that it wasnt a good idea

| I didn't know reputable breeders bred 4 lb. female dogs? Is this being done routinely?
