| Lets face it, it's the mixed breed issue you really object to. |

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | All dogs are mixed with something; the problem is you can't predict how a mixed breed will turn out as an adult. You mix a poodle with a Yorkie and you get different results every time. The pups may be adorable, but unfortunately the adult dog isn't what the buyer expected, and the next thing you know, it's off to the pound. Purebreds are easier to place, it's unfortunate, but true. Furthermore, the Humane Society says that the closer a dog meets standard the easier it is to place. You’ll find the people here love dogs, we’re not purebred snobs. Most of my dogs were mixes, and they were all one of a kind and I loved them dearly. No one here is against mixes, it’s the breeders who for breed them, and I think many purebred breeders, who breed a dog just because it's a "purebred" are just as bad.

| Nope not at all I grew up with mixed breed dogs we got from the Amish, and the rest where rescues one mixed breed dog we rescued was my first dog ever best dog was my best friend, then we rescued two more dogs. Callie has been my only full breed dog and that was because I moved in with my grandparents and my grandmother has copd so I had to get a dog that wouldn't shed and didn't have fur but hair and one that wouldn't make my allergies go crazy. My problem is everyone is wanting to breed when there are millions of dogs who don't have homes. Then they are breeding mixes which they can find in shelters and paying over $1,000 bucks for them. Don't judge me when you don't know me. Just because I have a full blood Yorkshire Terrier doesn't mean I am some snob!

| We have always joked calling our dogs mutts its not an offensive term to me really I guess if people looked at Callie being 16 pounds and having floppy ears and called her a mutt I might be a little upset but who knows.

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | There has been a lot done in the past few years. So many people didn't even know about puppy mills, but it's a complex problem and it's the way some farmers earn a living. Missouri passed a lot of laws causing many of their mills to close down, but there was a back lash and so many dogs ended up in rescues and now people are angry about all the laws. Right now a huge part of the problem is that breeders need no license to sell over the internet, so there’s no law in place protecting these dogs. Right now with so many people worried about their jobs and finances there seems to be a lot of apathy involving the protection of dogs.

But that is the exact problem with breeding. You just never know the outcome. People will just allow breeding to occur because they do not spay and neuter their pets then do not take responsibly for the puppies that are produced. They think putting two dogs together is all that it takes to make puppies but it's far more than just doing that to produce good puppies. Of course with proper education it it possible but those that are seem to be far and few between. Then the only ones that suffer are the animals or the buyers who end up with dogs that are not what they expected or want as pets. Breeding is just not taken seriously enough and it can lead to much heartache.

| What possible rational argument is there for producing more dogs when there are thousands being destroyed daily in shelters? If you want a dog or puppy go rescue one don't produce more! Save some lives! It is total ignorance to produce more of something that there is already a surplus of! Dogs are suffering and dying because of this type of foolishness. |
