| Just weird As many of ytou know my Elvis has often been described by me on here as the definition of the "lap dog" Recently however he has begun to act like a "dog" playing with toys, engaging in rough housing with the other dogs, barking at the door, playing in the yard etc. Princess "Monster" as many may have also previously read is my dominant female (mini schnauzer) she rules the roost. Elvis only turns all "brave" when there is a female in heat, previously when Princess was in heat, well she was spayed however if you go all calendar on it she should be in heat about now... Well here's the weirdness, all day long he has been mounting and attempting to hump, been super interested in investigating her "business" smelling licking-the stuff the boys do... is there such a thing as a false heat after spay or has Elvis just gone crazy today? He actually started being weird the last 2 days but I though it was because I was sick in bed he was just being defensive acting a bit dominant, the humping began as soon as everyone went into the yard today...

| Rubin is neutered but, last fall for about 3 days he humped Gracie, toys and pillows. I didn't know why he was doing that. When I chatted with my neighbor, she said Darby (female GS) was in her first heat and was marking all along the fence. Your story brought the incident it to mind. I hope someone else has some ideas.

| Well today was interested but preoccupied. I actually think it was dominance humping. Princess was not feeling well apparently we have ...the F-Word...fleas. In our yard and it only takes a few hours for her to not feel good then me to notice usually I failed this time though. Princess is allergic to fleas, so is Dad so yeah fleas are "THE F-WORD" here. It usually only takes one bite & she's got a bump, two bites & a rash, more she itching until bathed & treated pulling out her hair and hot spots happen virtually overnight. I noticed a couple giant fleas when the dogs came in from the yard, a couple days ago, and have been checking ever since until last night after baths & the house was checked the dogs went into the yard guaranteed flea free to potty before bed and came in with big nasty fleas on Elvis and Princess-Scoobers just never really seems to get a flea on him. Still not sure why maybe the neighbor with an "outside only dog" put a flea collar on their dog again causing all the fleas to rush over to my dogs, or dead flea covered rat again-in my garden last time how gross is that-?-either or I'm not sure I really want to know the cause. Anyways we've fully treated the dogs all bedding trashed or laundered, kennels wiped sterile flea repellent treated, dogs bathed, combed and repel applied, steam cleaned , sprayed, checked & double checked the yard is covered with diatomaceous earth like thin layer of snow-no nato.s right now but hey it works. I know I'm a lil neurotic it's like WWIII here with any parasite issue or concern of parasites but they are totally my phobia, besides poor Princess though it only takes one and she's having a reaction, I've found and killed at least 20 in the last 2 days. Poor Princess is mangy looking again red, irritated, pulled out her hair on her haunches and smells of ACV she seems o be pouting but comforted and resting, but she looks so cute wearing her kissecone. Elvis is being kept at bay he's really taking full advantage of her 'down and out' state. Anyways I really think Elvis instantly noted Princess was weakened (stressed, anxious, etc) by the flea issue immediately and he has gotten brave taking full advantage of the situation trying to move up in the pack order. I guess we'll see how it goes now that we are 100% flea free once again and see if Princess' stress relief changes Elvis' behavior toward her.

| You have my sympathy. I have been known to require medication over fleas ! JK. But a few years ago we declared war on the tiny vermin. Noah (RIP) was highly allergic and one flea bite set his OCD into frantic chewing and licking mode. He would chew himself bloody before we could get the Softy Cone on him. Of course we did everything we could think of, to make him comfortable. We finally had the carpet ripped up and replaced with hard flooring. The house, lawn, furniture and drapes were all professionally treated. We tossed out old doggy beds and I made all new beds stuffed with cedar chips. We changed their flea preventive to an oral medication instead of topical drops. Finally we broke the flea / tape worm cycle. It cost a small fortune but, was worth every cent. I have not seen a on my dogs for two years.

| What oral meds was yours on? I'm totally doing ceder beds now! Do use the oil or actual chips (shredded wood)? DE works wonders for all kinds of critters in dirt so we're making it regular applications to the lawn but poor Princess Monster it only takes one and yes she has three big bald spots now (again) she looks like an abused neglected uncared for dog because of this in a matter of a couple hours and it takes weeks to get her looking decent again-let alone feeling okay.

| Our Yorkies are on Trifexis Pink. This is an oral pill once a month that takes care of heartworm, fleas, and other worms (except I think tape worms which they don't get if they don't have fleas anyway). I live in Fl as you know so we have to do this year round. It may be the same in Calf. For their beds I use the cedar chips. I made all their beds like a zippered pillow case. I mark the calender and change the chips every 6 months to keep them fresh. But I really don't think you have to do that. I put the used chips around my roses. Oh and I buy the chips at Wal-mart (hate wal-mart, but chips are 1/2 what they cost at Petsmart, Petco, or feed store).

| Thank you! We actually don't have a WAlmart (LOL the city I love it has a law passed we only allow for so many corporations or non-local stores be be in the community-so unless one wants to sell out we don't allow them permits here) We do have a Target in the next town over...probably going to get some at the garden supply wholesalers though!
