Rubin is neutered but, last fall for about 3 days he humped Gracie, toys and pillows. I didn't know why he was doing that. When I chatted with my neighbor, she said Darby (female GS) was in her first heat and was marking all along the fence. Your story brought the incident it to mind. I hope someone else has some ideas.
