Advise: Well don't expect too much there is a spending limit, but most of us do go above and beyond that. Give your all, try not to go crazy and do your best to make your SBs GE a wonderful experience but you have to remember that you may not always get the same in return. I can say from my own experience doing 3 other GEs that all were awesome with the exception of one little snag with communication in our first one but it ended up being a very heartwarming experience for us, one that I will never ever forget.


All have been worth wild, we got some things that we wanted, some that were unexpected and very much needed. Our overall GE experiences were very nice and to top it all off, the clues part have been some of the best times here on TY and I have remained friends with some of the members who joined in.

Taylor, I am glad you changed your mind and decided to sign up, I know whoever is lucky enough to get Callie as their buddy will spoil her royally.

LOL standby everybody Teri (Verbena) and I came up with an idea that will make it very easy for those of you that have trouble with making slide shows on your phone or tablet to do a thank you thread that is easy to do and easy to watch, I guess thanks to my big mouth it's not a secret that was a "little" pet peeve of mine

I don't have one of them fancy phones but if you could find an FREE video making program that would be great.

I do have a fancy phone but that is it. We 'technically' have a computer but it is unable to download anything- including software that would just make it run like a normal computer or pictures, or picture resizing apps- pretty much it is for the kids to watchovies on and that is all it is good for. When we did our photos last year we edited each one with smilebox with the intent to make a slidesow but at the end of editing all those photos it said my phone couldn't make a slideshow and although I attempted to fenagle something out of the 'computer' it wouldn't even show me the smilebox website cause I didn't have a flash player or something... Anyhow, I would love to see what you ladies cook up!

On another note- max dog, I didn't see you on the sign up thread I don't think? Just want to make sure you know how to do it or if you need some help that you will seek it

After more careful reading I saw that sign ups do close on the thirty first so I suppose we have a bit more time but then - you may begin shipping starts on April first and I don't remember how long it takes to get a buddy assignment but yikes! I'm a little nervous about my time frame! Then again I suppose I'm a bit of worry wort.

our suggestion is if you either can't or don't want to do some type of slide show, is to put your pictures in an album here on Yorkie Talk, from past experience you do not have to downsize your photos and then you can just use the arrow to move to the next picture, you can also add text to each photo. Then just like with the smileboxes you can attach the link to your post. Attached is a link to an old album I put on here, but yesterday I tried two photos that were larger than what it says you can load here but they loaded quickly without downsizing. I think if you don't want to do a smile box this is the next best thing and everyone could practice ahead of time.

When viewing the photos you often have to use your right arrow slide bar to move down a little so you can see where to click next to go the next photo.

I do think you will need to make sure your pictures are a good size because in the past I have looked at photos on here and they will not enlarge, they are teeny tiny so that's why it is good to experiment ahead of time.

I bet we all have different things about the exchange that are most important to us, for some reason to me it's the thank yous but what I think happens is often we are so exhausted from the shopping and plotting and then everyone starts chomping at the bit to see the photos immediately that we feel pressured to get something posted.. I plan to do what I have done in the past let my buddy know right away we got our box but then take about three or four days to get my pictures sorted, captions written and then posted. I am not the sharpest on the computer so it does often take me longer, but I like to make it really good, so LOL ya'all better not rush me

LOL I see you found the photos, to me it's a better and easier option for the poster since they don't have to resize their photos and for the viewer they can just keep hitting the next arrow button and don't have to open each photo individually. I have not done a smile box in a while, so can you no longer get any of the slide shows for free now?

No, it was only on a trial basis. I was charged a fee ($$) after the first month. Not worth it to me . . It was at the time we were doing GEs and the Sewing challenges but not now. Which is why I am looking for a new video/slide show maker.

I just made this as a test and very quickly. When you sign up for smilebox there are two options, free or a 7 day free trial. If you select free I believe it is forever but you are very limited to designs and so forth. I had a membership in the past but let it drop so this time I signed in like a new person and used a different email address however when I opened it one of my old smileboxes was there, but I was still able to create a basic new one
