| ![]() Partial quote I believe the breed club and the AKC are at odds, having differing opinions, over this issue. The breed club sets the standard. It is a snafu akin to the tail (registry) wagging the dog (breed club).

| ![]() I think this thread is way beyond help LOL...I keep reading about adding a variation to the show ring for Parti's what is not everyone getting? AKC hasn't added a variation to any breed for showing in years and it's not going to happen. What part of that is not getting through????? AKC can't add a variation UNLESS YTCA presents it to AKC and even then as seen in the quote I got off the AKC website that breed club was "turned down". The YTCA at this point is NOT going to allow Parti's in the show ring period. Those can talk till they are blue in the face and I can talk till I'm blue in the face it's just NOT gonna happen "anytime" in the near future. I will state ONCE AGAIN, I've never called any Parti breeder names or called anyone non reputable that breeds Parti's but everyone knows I uphold the standard and my convictions. As, Jim stated, I refuse to even take those Parti breeders serious when they say we'll take our Parti carriers in the ring and I don't care what one says, I'll do what I want, yada yada yada....show breeders dye dogs to win, do whatever it takes to win, again, yada yada yada....I try to do the right thing but yet again we are expected to change our beliefs just to satisfy something we don't believe in...At this point it's all a moot point. Our goal should be is elimitating all the serious health issues that are in this breed and stop fighting about freaking color and whether it's allowed in the show ring or who the heck is dying their dogs! It should be all about breeding a healthier Yorkshire Terrier and not about color! Donna |

There are also albinos in this world and they most always have problems with their eye sight. Last edited by topknot; 09-12-2010 at 10:47 AM.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I tried to post earlier but I somehow erased my post Here it is again. The Yorkshire Terrier faces serious challenges today. Health issues are of deep concern. Where is the registry for LS dogs for example. How close are we to identifying the gene and or genes responsible for LS? Bybers, and Puppy Mills are churning out so very bad representatives of the breed, and never a genetic test done. God help us. The breed clubs has an overwhelming real and deep concern as to what is happening with our beautiful tan and blue standard Yorkie. Until we (collectively) get these health concerns under control, the paramount duty of the club as I see it, is to strive forward with research, to try and curb somehow these bybers, and to safeguard the health, the temperament of our beautiful breed. Until progress is made on these fronts, I'm sorry to say ethical Parti breeders, there just will not be any receptance to your plea for full parti recognition. I do encourage you to promote genetic health testing, in fact to mandate that as part of an ethical breeders membership in your club.

No Longer a Member | ![]() I was just pointing out that the piebald gene or Leucism shows up in many animals, it doesn't mean that they are mixed with anything. Even birds, squirrels, snakes etc. Look at this cute pied squirrel. |

| ![]() Hey, I was only commenting on the example given. So I did have right to make comment in response to past post given. And who is to say there might not be a problem down the road we do not know of yet due to this peg. gene? Some food for thought. I believe that yorkies were developed for their blue and tan/gold and to me - yorkies will not be yorkies unless they are the blue and tan/gold color. JMO When I saw the tri-color here on Yorkie Talk at first - I thought to myself, "I thought this was a yorkie forum?" What is this? I have have been in yorkies for 30 some odd years and never - honestly - saw a tri-color till I got on Yorkie Talk. And I still have only seen photos on here of them. Never in person yet. |

Pink eyes come with albinos and Parti are not albinos. An albino can be born from any color animal and human.

Health should be the #1 concern and priority period ![]() ![]() I think I've stated before if I wanted a tri-colored dog or Parti I would be in another breed but my preference. I just hope all that does breed does it the right way and correct way and has that animal as it's #1 priority and it's best interest at heart and not for profit.

The main thing here is that we are not scientists with degrees in genetics. We can study this topic as novices, but unitil we have a doctrine in this field we are playing with somethings we just do not know much about - reason we have a standard and should be health testing our dogs. Yes, health should always be number one concern, and IMHO - genetics is included in this area. Last edited by topknot; 09-12-2010 at 11:37 AM.
