| Have you ever gone into a grooming area at a dog show - now I am talking about all breeds - white powder flying...cough, cough... scissoring hair flying, how do you get a maltese super white..... What is most important is structure/movement! What counts most is the bone structure and health of a dog - IMO. Hey, I did see a purple poodle one time in NY - with same purple color as her owner's hair -they were going up in the elevator. It was the purple shade of color some very older women will dye their hair, because they think it looks good. I did take a double look on this one. We had an orthodontist for dogs come to speak at my all breed club and she will not place braces on any dog unless they are spayed/neutered. Why - to make sure they will not be shown after she has made the correction. Yes, people do apparently get braces placed on their dogs. Heck... I need braces, but figure I am too old to get my crooked tooth fixed now at my old age, why would anyone get braces for their dogs, I guess unless it interferes with them being able to eat. Some judges do a great job checking - some with take their finger into the topknot and feel around and I heard of one judge that made everyone take their topknots out. |

| Mary is right. It is a day at the show. Some days you win and some you do not. It is all up to the judges. When you are a member of a club and your club is sponsering a show you have choices as to who you would like as judges and can give a list for them to pick from. If you are an exhibitor you can choose or not to show under certain judges. That is your right as an exhibitor. I have not entered under a particular judge before. I showed on Sat. and not Sun. but I did go and watch that day. That was my choice. |

| The first time my mouth was open....But, I still find myself walking through the grooming area and something will catch my eye and I'll have to stop and ask "whatcha doing" or "what's that". It's a good thing that most of the handlers/exhibitors know my face.....other wise they'd probably give me some smart a$$$$

When showing it should be a fair playing field. Like mentioned before the health is more important.

Everything should be a fair playing field but when you have judges involved it will never be as fair as you want it...only fair way is a timed event involving a time clock...I'm using this as an example because I use to barrel race and if I lost it was because my horse wasn't fast enough or if I won my horse was the fastest no worrying about someone pointing to me as the winner it was all about me and my horse. And with breeding and showing health is the most important along with how the dog is put together structurely.... Again, I'm so sorry you were hurt by anyone. Donna
