Have you ever gone into a grooming area at a dog show - now I am talking about all breeds - white powder flying...cough, cough... scissoring hair flying, how do you get a maltese super white..... What is most important is structure/movement! What counts most is the bone structure and health of a dog - IMO. Hey, I did see a purple poodle one time in NY - with same purple color as her owner's hair -they were going up in the elevator. It was the purple shade of color some very older women will dye their hair, because they think it looks good. I did take a double look on this one.
We had an orthodontist for dogs come to speak at my all breed club and she will not place braces on any dog unless they are spayed/neutered. Why - to make sure they will not be shown after she has made the correction. Yes, people do apparently get braces placed on their dogs. Heck... I need braces, but figure I am too old to get my crooked tooth fixed now at my old age, why would anyone get braces for their dogs, I guess unless it interferes with them being able to eat.
Some judges do a great job checking - some with take their finger into the topknot and feel around and I heard of one judge that made everyone take their topknots out. |
