| 16 year old deaf/ blind dumped at LA From pet connect.us: "YESTERDAY A COUPLE WENT TO LANCASTER SHELTER (CA) TO ADOPT A SENIOR DOG (which they did and they love her already). WHILE THERE THEY SAW COCO, 16 YEARS OLD, GOING BLIND & DEAF, BEING DUMPED BEAUSE HER FAMILY IS MOVING. The couple tried to take Coco from the people surrendering him but the shelter wouldn't let them. Here's what I was told by one of the people who witnessed Coco's surrender, "He was really mellow. The woman was holding him and he was doing nothing. Not squirming or anything. I know he is said to be blind, but he still had a look of confusion on his face. He did not make a sound though. Even when the woman handed him over to the officer. The officer took Coco out of the office and a bit later I saw another person carry him past the window probably heading to a kennel. He looked just the same. Dazed and actually almost lifeless." Coco's photo kills me...absolutely breaks my heart. Coco deserves better than to spend whatever time he has left in a place as scary and cold as Lancaster Shelter." Anyone live near here that can help?

| OMG, how heartless these ppl are, how do you own a pup for 16 years then just dump him. My past girl I had from 8 weeks old, at 14 y/o she started loosing her sight and hearing, my love for her grew deeper, I had to put her down at age 17 y/o I was devastated I thought I would have her until she was 20 y/o, blind & deaf she was still healthy, had a good appetite, then one day she just stopped eating. I can't go through the rest of that story, although it has been almost 14 months the pain is still there. So tragic for this beautiful little boy. I pray someone can find love in their heart to take this sweet little guy home for the time he has left. I am just sick over this. Cruel heartless ppl.

| Growing old is a condition we can do absolutely nothing about...it is a condition most of us will face someday. Seniors absolutely break my heart......they are blessed with longevity......and we can only pray that the senior has people around them, that love them and treasure them and care for them, because they are no longer able to do that for themselves. We as a society, have got to realize that when we no longer love and care for our seniors, our most vulnerable, because they are no longer productive or because they require more of our time, more of our patience, more of our protection, more of our understanding, the basic moral fiber of our country will unravel and we will completely dry rot and fall apart. Our young are vulnerable and should be cared for, but you dont miss what you have no memory of.....but our SENIORS.....they have memories....they know their limitations.....they mourn the loss of their vitality and their productivity, and they see and understand the effects they have on our society. We must let our seniors know they are loved, they are still valued for all they have contributed, for all they have taught us, for all the memories they have woven into the fabric of our society and each family. We must, as a moral, ethical, responsible society, be care givers to our seniors...they have gotten us to where we are this very day. This includes ALL seniors, especially our pets that do not have the ability to understand what is happening to them. To abandon a senior that has devoted their life to a family, doing their very best to be loyal and devoted and living their life to do nothing more than please that family, to leave a senior pet and separate them from all they have lived for their entire life, is in MY mind, beyond cruel, beyond animal abuse. It just breaks my heart. That poor little soul.....completely unfamiliar sights, blurred by age....completely unfamiliar sounds, muffled by age.....and his loving family now gone.....he is left wondering where he is, who he is with, where his family has gone....he is confused and fearful. People please dont throw away your seniors...they do not deserve that. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Ok, his ID is 8190315-A4796228 and I emailed two rescue groups in LA with his info. Stating that I will cover his adoption fee if they can take him. I don't know if this will help but it is what I can do😪. |

| I am waiting to hear from Dayswalters to let me know any information she has about adoption fee, etc....this fee thing was her idea, and I glommed onto it because I personally have no idea what avenues can be taken to facilitate this pup finding a compassionate, understanding home..... Joan, I know so well exactly how you felt about your precious little senior....it completely breaks your heart to see them get lost under furniture and stuck in corners....I have "pets" that run all over my house and share my bed....they run the house, determining everything but what tv shows we watch! This babies are treasures that are now seniors themselves....and as I lose them, one at a time, it just kills me......the more senior I become, the less I am able to tolerate the pain of losing these darlings.....it hurts more and it hurts longer....unfortunately, as a consequence, my babies are catered to and they have ME jumping thru hoops, to see that their senior years are the best they can possibly be. I do not ever want to lay awake at night, guilty over what I did or did not do, to make myself worthy of the unconditional devotion and loyalty of this pak of mine. Then, soon, I will be facing the same challenges with my breeders as they become seniors..... |

| Count me in for whatever is needed for this old gal. $$ or transport wise etc. Maybe if someone could get her we could have a courier bring her to one of us. I have elderly blind and deaf dogs and I know they can have a pleasant loving life if well cared for. So keep me posted on what might be done for her! I would take her in a minute if I were closer.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I have not heard back from the rescue group yet and no one answers the phone at the shelter but the website says the adoption fee is $69. That's not too bad. I will keep trying to contact them and the rescue groups. |

| "Let us be of Terrier mindset....determined, unwavering, courageous, stubborn, focused, and tenacious".....this little soul will live and die in the arms of someone who is compassionate and understanding and appreciative, who loves and respects him and what he has given during his life. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Update: Okay guys! I was able to get through to the shelter! Yay! Apparently you only need the A4796228 for Coco's ID number. Anyway, his adoption fee is actually $95 according to the office and a rescue group has come forward to say that if he has not found a home by 2/6, they will take him and that someone has offered to cover the adoption fee. I am assuming that someone is me and I am waiting for them to get back to me. Thanks to those willing to split the cost. I will let you know when I hear from someone or I have an update. |
