| Addevo: I was noticing your little set up for you dog. It looks very nice. I was wondering what you are using as flooring for the condo? |

Target:Portacrib Waterproof Pads 2-pk. Then I put a big fleece blanket over it. It's not quite the right size, so I have to fold the edges under. My mom gave it to me awhile back, it has little dog bones on it. For inside the crate, I use a regular bed pillow, covered with a fleece baby blanket that I got at Marshall's.

| Nice idea. I'll bet the new soft waterproof mattress covers would work, too. If someone needs a little bit bigger floor they could buy one of the twin size waterproof mattress covers and cut it down or fold it down to size. Great idea. I never would have thought of it myself. |

| You're going to get lots of good ideas for your future pup. I had a similar, but smaller setup that worked well for us. Not as fancy, but it worked. I hope to have something like that for Kaji here as well.

| Your pup must not be a climber. I bought the Iris pen when ZoE was about 10 weeks old and she figured out how to scale the walls & get out, in the first day. It's in pieces in my basement now...waiting for next spring's garage sale.

| A tip for new pup owners is, never pick them up over the side of the pen. You're basically showing them the way out. It's very possible they will learn on their own, but in the meantime, don't give them tips on how to escape! I always had Kaji do a sit stay before opening the pen. If he got up, I closed it back up. The goal was for him to be invited out. It's never too early to teach them not to bolt.

| This is a great set up. It looks very cozy. For my dog's pen, I went to Lowes and bought a piece of flooring off a big roll. It was around $15 I think. I cut it in half and put 1/2 under the pen. I have the 2nd half in case I ever need it. Just a thought on flooring.

| [QUOTE=addevo;3650806]First I put down a waterproof crib pad. It doesn't have elastic edges, it's like a flat sheet, soft and quilty on one side and plastic on the other side. This is such a fabulous idea! I gate Moses in a really small tiled hallway on the days he doesn't go to daycare. I always thought it would be nice to put him in a pen in my kitchen so he could look out the back window, but was worried about the hardwood floors! This is a great solution! He sleeps in his crate at night, but something like this would give him a little more room at night as well! Thanks for sharing! I love YT!!

| I think pens like these are a great alternative to leaving a dog in a crate for hours at a time. We have always had our dogs trained to have run of the house but if I had a dog that wasn't trained this is what I would do. The idea of getting flooring from Lowes is a good idea, too. |

We have two other dogs who have run of the house, but they LOVE Wendell's condo, and run in there every time we open the door. The cats sleep in there too when they get a chance. I like the idea of vinyl flooring from Lowes - I never thought of that. Just another reason I love YT, I always learn new ideas here.

| I have the same thing! Chloe loves hers. I only have the 4 units together right now, but as she grows will add the extra panels that I ordered. It really makes them plenty of room to play and sleep. Right now I move mine from the den during the day, to another pallet on the floor beside my bed so she will sleep better at night...or should I say, so "I'll" sleep better at night....LOL |
