First I put down a waterproof crib pad. It doesn't have elastic edges, it's like a flat sheet, soft and quilty on one side and plastic on the other side. I think I got it at Target. Something like this:
Target:Portacrib Waterproof Pads 2-pk.
Then I put a big fleece blanket over it. It's not quite the right size, so I have to fold the edges under. My mom gave it to me awhile back, it has little dog bones on it.
For inside the crate, I use a regular bed pillow, covered with a fleece baby blanket that I got at Marshall's.
