Personally, I think the real grass/sod would get really smelly really fast." No, the grass/sod lasts for several weeks, especially with with puppies. the 'solids' can be picked up. Since most sod sections have an inch or so of dirt to contain the roots, the urine is absorbed. I also forgot to mention in my original post, I do water the grass to keep it alive. Also by 'exchanging' it with a piece from inside to outside, the rain and air keep it fresh. Of course if you live in the city or an apartment, then you may not have these options but it has worked quite well for me for over 17 years. | |

| It took about 3 weeks to get the Potty Patch in....and Oliver uses it. I found a place where you could get just the grass: Puget Sound Turf - 253.205.7654 That way, I can wash one outside and let it hang our to air out for a few days, and use the spare. I also though of getting the Purina Doggie Liter box and then laying a potty pad in it and then the grass ......not sure if I want to change tho, since he is great with the Potty Patch.

| I started him out on the potty pads. I always sprayed them with the Simple Solution Potty Training Aid. So , when I switched him to the Potty Patch, I sprayed the grass with it.

YT Addict | We live in an apartment building, and the landlord doesn't allow us to use the side of the building (only patch of grass nearby, unless we go all the way to the park!) so have our balcony. My husband saw this and built one himself with astroturf! He made a little box with a couple of pieces of wood, and a few layers of the turf. We clean the top layer and rotate the layers every week or so. That way we still have our balcony, and it's more like a (dare we say) litter box. It was so much cheaper, and it's trained Derby to use grass and not pee pads We did use pee pads in the very early stages because he couldn't hold himself all night, but that was only for about a month, and now he can hold himself all night! He barks to go outside now, so we're all good!! It's fantastic. We know it's time to change the astroturf (like when it's been awhile and maybe we've forgotten when the last time we rotated lol) when he started to do his business on the balcony.. lol |

| Potty Patch Saw this in a Harriet Carter catalog. This looks perfect for my situation, though I live in Texas, the last 2 years have brought us some icy winters. I live in an upstairs apartment and getting my dog (and myself) up and down the stairs is extremely challenging. So being able to have her go in the apartment without messing the floor during these icy periods is awesome. I can't wait to buy one and see how it works. |

| Rascal Dog Litter Box I have been using the Rascal Dog Litter Box for several months and am very pleased with it. It has sides that contains the mess and the artificial grass is washable in the washing machine. I've got one upstairs and one down and my babies use it faithfully. Go to www.rascaldoglitterbox.com and check it out! |

| I have had the potty patch for 4 weeks now. I have four yorkies. 3 of them are both pee pad trained & outdoor trained also. My male is strictly outdoor trained. As of this day, neither one of my 3 females have used it. I tried putting pee pads on top of it, underneath the tray, even tried rubbing a used pee pad on the grass and still nothing! I even put in their x-pen when I go out and they still won't use it. They will hold it in and then when I take them out of the pen they will go outside or run to their pee pad. So far for me it really was a waste of money.

| Potty Patch -- beware of the company The product may be great (some have loved it, some have hated it), but there are posts in discussion groups ALL OVER the web that the folks selling the item display irresponsible and unethical practices. Many say they ordered and paid, but never got the item. One msg I read said that the phone-order option waits until after all else is done (credit card, etc.) before notifying that an "upgrade" for double the price is required if you have more than so many dogs or a dog over so many pounds -- catches you at a vulnerable juncture and tries to push such add-ons. There is another brand, pretty much the same thing, called "Potty Park" or something like that, and I've seen/heard no complaints. Plus, it costs less (although I don't know about S&H. That's all I know. Hope this helps. |

So I did some searching and found the Potty Park by Doggy Solutions and it looks amazing. It is a little pricey but its not cheap plastic either and the cleanup system seems easy and mess free too! I ordered and the owner of the company himself sent me an email thanking me and telling me how long it would take them to make it and even offered me another option in case I wanted it sooner and it was cheaper!! He also wrote that they will email me again with a tracking number once it was shipped, which he told me would be today. So I will let you know how it works out, but in my eyes CS is just as important as the product. Hope this helps!
