It is really important to continue to educate ourselves on these puppy mills. I know I still have things to learn. You might find this website helpful Stop Puppy Mills

| hooray for the good guys Bless whoever was responsible for the rescue of those animals. Puppy mill owners DON NOT love or even like animals. How could they treat animals like that. |

| RE: my puppymill story I really hope that ANYONE who wants to adopt one of these animal, however cute they are are prepared for what they will be getting, it is so sad to watch the videos and Im sure lots of people were like ohhh I want one, but they are not really " pets" at first anyways. People who want to adopt a dog want a companion, want to take walks , throw balls, snuggle and get kisses. When you see the dogs in the adoption center they are quite comfortable since that is the enviorment they always lived in, lots of dogs , cages and big loud barks. However when you get them home its another story, they are timid dont like to be pet, ( because they never were) , they dont have any idea how to go outside and pee, they even pee in thier kennels because they always have done thier business where they live. Please dont misunderstand what I am trying to say but I know it was alot of work for my mother, since she is older she didnt really care to much about snuggling and kissing and had alot of patients, but Im going to be honest my daughter who was down there for winter break said eww nana this is not a fun dog at all. Im soo soo happy that they were removed from such deplorable conditions I just hope alot of time and effort and skill is used in placing these dogs because its not easy, they deffinatly are timid around children who are young and move quickly. I do hope they find wonderful homes for each and everyone but sometimes resuce places just want the money and send the dog off!! |

I'll dig up some information for you and send it off to you via PM. Once you go through that we can talk more! We are currently working on new facilities in SW Iowa - Fremont and Mills County. I am looking at applying for a grant to EDUCATE counties, communities on puppy mills and how to eradicate them from he area. Knowledge breeds understanding!

| I really started wondering who these people are that ran this horrible mill and where they sold their puppies. The question someone else asked about how they sold their puppies - made me wonder if this was at all like the stories out of Wash state - where the puppies are sold out of a nice place, not the same place they are breed. Well, I did some research thinking these awful Missouri breeders might have a website - couldn't find that they did - making me think they sell strictly to pet stores - what I did find is who lives at the address listed in the news stories Carold & Rebecca Cruse (417) 759-2246 877 E Farm Road 26, Pleasant Hope, MO 65725 (and that is not a typo on the name Carold) I even found the place on Google maps & you can see the breeding house shown in the videos about the rescue 877 E Farm Road 26, Pleasant Hope, MO 65725 - Google Maps

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | Too Close to Home I live about 45 minutes away from where these dogs were rescued. It was "breaking news" at 5 o'clock the day the dogs were taken from the puppy mill. I had an overwhelming sense of grief and disappointment in humanity when I saw this. How HORRIBLE! I started crying uncontrollably. Who would do such a thing? To top it all off (you guys all know the rest of the story), on the local news they interviewed a neighbor of the puppy miller, and she said something to the effect of, " I know her, and she loves her dogs and takes good care of them. What people are saying about her isn't true. There is something else going on here. " WHAT????? Those dogs HAD NEVER BEEN BATHED! They had never been loved or held or had their teeth cleaned for God's sake! Something else going on? Yeah, like a heartless woman who wanted to profit from a pet she considered to be livestock! Reprehensible! My family and I breed and raise Yorkies, and I can understand a dog going maybe 2 weeks without a bath, maybe 3, but never?????? Cruel, heartless, and she deserves to be put in a cage!

| Our wonderful veterinarian is a Yorkie person (has 4 right now) and wants to adopt "two of the worst-off" so they'll get proper care forever. I hope she's able to - the pups would go from wretched to spoiled rotten in no time flat! -Hope |

How is it to live in Missouri as an honest breeder. Do you have people interested in your beautiful yorkies and then think they can go get one cheaper when they don't understand going down the road to someone else could very likely mean a puppy mill owner? What would you like to happen in your state?

| Honestly it makes me sick, embarrassed about Missouri, very sad and extremely angry at the way these horrible people treat these wonderful babies! It is a very bad problem! I wish there was a limit on the number of breeding dogs, although these type of people don't seem to obey laws anyway... Even with help, there is no way anyone could take care of 100's of dogs. It breaks my heart when I see someone at the Vet with a sick baby, but I always ask where they got it from, and then call my inspector to have him check them out. He is passionate about shutting down these types of operations! |
