From this mill, it looked like many of the dogs were not puppies. Were they selling adult dogs? I thought puppy mills only kept adults for breeding. Wouldn't they at least keep the breeding dogs reasonably healthy?
No, these people (wow I hate even calling them people ) could care less about the adult dogs - they are just breeding, money-making machines to them. When they become to old/sick to breed - some just dump them - and it can get pretty ugly. And these dogs are most likely bred repetitively - every single heat, and probably well past the age where they should be bred. Having pups repetitively like that is very hard on a mother - plus with the lack of vet care & no dental care - these dogs do not generally have the lifespan of a normal dog. Females have mammary issues - they can get large cysts, etc from all the nursing & breeding. It really is so sad

It is really important to continue to educate ourselves on these puppy mills. I know I still have things to learn. You might find this website helpful Stop Puppy Mills
