Well, I am home and NO ONE ATE A THING today while I was at work. I just tried to give them so fresh I-D food and they only ate a bit (I know they don't really like it but at the same time I think they are hungry) So I just made some boiled chicken and boiled rice and they ate it all!!!! I knew they were hungry. I also just gave them each .50cc of pedialite and I am monitoring their drinking. They both just pooped and it is still a bit watery, not too much mucus :-) and oh yea, there was a decent amount of poop when I came home from work so I don't think they ate it or at least not a lot. I also just gave them their 2nd dose of panacur and now they seem a bit sleepy (nap time?) I am definately taking your advice and I am going to get NEW dry food (something all natural and with no junk in it). I didn't think the Eukanuba was that great anyway (maybe that's not agreeing with them ???)

Eukanaba all right I have had yorkies for the past 12 years and have always fed them Eukanaba lamb and rice. I also add Natural Balance lamb and brown rice roll, diced up for them and mixed with the dry. Try some Pepto about a 1/4 of a teaspoon. That will probably help. Keep them hydrated and they are very small so don't let them get too wired up.

What is this: I feed Roxy and TJ boiled chicken and rice for breakfast (they won't eat that I-D Vet food) and they inhaled it (hungry?) a 2 hours later I went to leave another potion out for them while I was at work and again they went to inhale it. I put a little water in it so the rice would not stick together. Then all of a sudden, TJ started to 'choke' I think? I took the food away and he sounded like he had something stuck, or kinda maybe like he was congested? I look in his mouth and nothing and then I was rubbing his neck, throat and it kinda got better, I opened his mouth to look in the back of his throat and he did a cough. Do you think he was tring to eat so fast and I startled him when I grabbed to food dish away and maybe he inhaled it wrong? I was so scared that I called my boss to see if it was ok to bring them into work so I can watch them. So, P.S they are here with me and are fine! As soon as we got he I held him and he had to hiccups but he is good now. They are sleeping now. So what do you think, was it the rice? rice with too much water in it? or something else?

These little dogs cough and sound like they are choking a lot. They also do a thing called the reverse sneeze. You did the right thing by looking in his mouth and all. You have a nice boss to allow you to bring them to your work.

Glad to hear that he is better I bet he just coughing. Sometimes Annie eats her kibble and guess maybe she may have eaten it too fast that she throws it right back out ... I get so excited that she is even eating on her own... So just keep on going.... Day by day... It will get better!

Ok, I need some more help...How much boiled chicken and rice in each serving for the 2 of them? What part of the chicken is best to boil for them? B/c NO ONE has pooped yet? I think they did in the middle of the night (only a little evidence left) nothing this morning and it is now 2 pm. I am thinking that maybe??? b/c they are here with me at work confined in a little space that they are a little to leary of pooping? I just feed them a very little bit of chiken and rice. TJ was inhaling it and Roxy was only picking b/c he was (she really would just take a piece and put it to the side and then he would find and then it was a fight as to who actual ate it). I just took away the rice, I am scared they are eating too much rice and that they might do that choke thing again??? I just wish someone would poop, I am dying to see if they still have the diarrhea/mucus. How much longer should I feed them boiled chicken and rice?

Their systems are outta whack right now... So they are probably not going to poop very regularly. Maybe not pooping yet is actually agood thing cause it might be gearing to getting back to normal.... Dunno... It could even be a day. I know that been Annie before... When she has had the diarhea then when her system is getting back to normal. I get worried cause she hasn't pooped, but then all of sudden a nice solid poop. Be patient.. It will come eventually..... As to how much chicken and rice to give them... That's a hard one... If I give annie dog food forget it! but it if I give her all the chicken and rice she wants.... SHE'S IN Go figure... She'll eat as much as you give her... So maybe give as much as you are comfortable with...? Maybe try to seperate the two and feed them? So they don't fight over the food until you can get their systems back into whack? Dunno.... Oh yeah and once their stomachs are back to normal you can stop the chicken and rice... But my guess is that you will have a hard time getting them to eat the kibble. You may have to you try different tricks to entice them to get them to eat the kibble Last edited by eroar2; 06-24-2005 at 10:53 AM.

HiE I personally would ride it out (I think that you might be on the right track), but I did a search on the forum and found this from a previous thread regarding constipation: I found this on the internet It is important that your pets drink plenty of water, as this will help to soften the stools, some pets may prefer bottled water, or even drinking from glass or ceramic bowls as plastic can leach into the water and alter the taste. Keep plenty of bowls of water around the house, cat also prefer to drink from a large bowl. To increase the water intake it may be added to the diet (if fed dry food) Olive oil acts as a tonic for the intestines; it stimulates the flow of bile, helps the intestinal muscles to contract and lubricates the faeces. Place the oil over the food between half to 2 teaspoons per day for no more than one week. Prolonged use may draw vitamin A from the body. Constipation If constipation is mild, not associated with other symptoms and doesn't last for 48 hours here are a few things you can do. 1.Feed your dog dry dog food. Dry dog food has more bulk than canned dog foods. 2.Water and bran (up to 5 tablespoons daily) added to the food may help. 3.You can try commercial preparations containing psylluim; (such as Metamucil) they are designed for humans and are sold in drugstores. Metamucil dosage: 1/2 teaspoon twice a day to small pets and about 2 teaspoons twice a day to large dogs. Try mixing it with a small portion of canned food. Give your pet access to plenty of water. 4.Mix a tablespoon or two of canned pumpkin with your dogs pet food for several days or until the constipation has ended. 5.Milk will sometimes relieve constipation. Give 1/8 cup twice a day to small dogs and 1/2 cup twice a day to larger dogs. 6.Mineral oil (1 tablespoon per 10 pounds) will sometimes relieve more severe constipation. Do not use this all of the time as mineral oil will interfer with the absorption of oil-soluable vitamins. Mineral oil should only be put in food and not forced orally. If your dog has reaccuring bouts of constipation take the dog to your veterinarian. Last edited by eroar2; 06-24-2005 at 07:00 PM.

YOU ARE THE BEST. Thanks so much! I think I will try to ride it out b/c it really has only been day one of solid poop. I will sleep in their room tonight again to make sure TJ doesn't have any difficulties and I will see how tomorrow goes. I don't think that I should give them anymore rice though. Should I go back to dry food now?

If you can definately get them to eat the kibble then definately switch to that... If not get them to eat something. I really don't think that the chicken and rice is hurting them. If you still feel weird about the rice maybe just give plain chicken. But just make sure that they are eating something... That's the main thing. (of course no fun food ) Just plain bland doggie food Yesterday I came home to find Annie had thrown up during the day and today her poop is a little squishy... So someone has been a little naughty lately But she's her usual playful self Trust me it is a continuos process... You'll get used to it eventually! It's taken me almost a year!

TJ poop has gotten softer, now I don't know if I should just continue with the rice and chicken. The both are hungry and eat. I gave them some nutrical and chicken this morning and then they ate a few pieces of dry food. They aren't drinking a lot. TJ will when I stick my finger in the bowl and entice he a bit. Roxy won't so I have been givng her some water in a siringe (sp?). TJ did that thing again after he ate. It seems like it does it itself b/c he carries on as if nothing is happening, but you can see and hear him acting like something it stuck and he is swallowing over and over, etc...Something is deifnately happening I just don't know what? It scares me....

Hi again...I really trying to not to worry (but I just can't help it) TJ has been very sleepy all day. He pretty much slept all day. I feed Him and Roxy 3x today (chicken and rice) the piggies ate it all and probably would have continued. Rocy pooped but not TJ. They played a few times today but TJ really just wanted to sleep. He has been drinking a little all day. Roxy a very little. I gave them both .50 cc of the pedialite, should I give them more? I am just so worried about TJ. Everytime he gets up for a dirnk he takes a lick or 2 and then just drops at the bowl to sleep. I know that he doesn't feel good (maybe constipated again). I don't know what to do. He flip flops. B/c like I said they really played a few times today and he was fine then, and then he just wanted to lay anywhere and sleep. Today was kind hot maybe that too? But Roxy seemed really ok, she slept b/c he would get up and play. Any suggestions, please?
