| Skin infection I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for a skin infection to go away. I have a 3 year old yorkie that saw the vet a week ago. He had gotten into a patch of turkey ticks and as a result of scratching got a skin infection. The vet told me to use a medicated shampoo or sulfodene on his skin where the infection was. I am seeing his skin peel like he is loosing a scab or something. I just don't know if this is normal or not....he has never had any type of infection like this.....Thanks! |

| Yeah....he was covered....of course they all died because of his front line, but that didn't stop them from biting first....the vet really didn't seem to concerned with his infection....Tux doesn't seem to be bothered with it....he doesn't scratch at it or anything....I just feel so bad for him!! I think that it may be drying up some too...poor little man....thanks for the prayers too!!! That was sweet..... |

| Never heard of the turkey ticks before, but i've had my fair share of skin infections with Bentley. He is on his SECOND case of a re occuring bacterial infection on his skin..and the vet can't give me an answer as to where it's coming from. it's a very aggervating thing...so i feel your pain The antibiotic shampoo works wonders though. Hope your baby gets better!

| Awww, I hope he feels better soon! My maltese has gotton skin infections before, she is terribly allergic to fleas, if one gets on her and bites she ends up with a terrible skin problem. But she has had to take an antibiotic to get it to go away so I have no idea about the treatment your giving him. |

| I don't know if this will help or not but when one of my dogs had a HUGE hot spot (covered most of his back and it was nasty) I cleaned it three times a day with antibacterial soap, then I used johnson and johnson antibacterial foaming wash and then put neosporin on it. it was gone in less than a week

| My Jo-Jo gets little blister things on his underbelly and after he licks them they break open...after a couple of days they do dry up and flake off like dry skin. We just went through a round of it with Jo and his vet called it 'foliculitus' and said he has a secondary infection from licking. She said to bathe him in medicated shampoo a couple times a week until it cleared up and then once a week and she put him on a low dose of prednisone for a couple of weeks and he's also on an antibiotic. I don't know what caused it with Jo...it seems to happen when he has too much oil like in a supplement or fish based food or something like that. He's now on a prescription diet to rule out food allergies. I hope your baby will be feeling better soon. |

| His vet never mentioned him needing an antibiotic. His food is called Canidae. It is suppose to be an excellent food. I just hope he gets to feeling better...if not I suppose he will be going back to his vet...which of course he will hate...lol |

| Coat Handler Products I had all kinds of skin problems with my five year old yorkie. He a skin peeling, scabs, and big sores about the size of a ringworm on his abdomen. He was diagnosed with a bacterial skin infection and given antibotics. The antibotics helped very little and the problem reoccured. I started using Coat Handler Shampoo 15 to 1 and Coat Handler conditioner 15 to 1 once a week and in 6-8 weeks I had no problem at all. I also used a product by Coat Handler called skin works (a cream) three times a day on the affected areas. I am sold on the Coat Handler products and will never use anything else. Jad |

| Coat Handler Products I live in Texas and buy my Coat Handler products from the following website: http://www.progroom.com Telephone# 9368943292 I have been very pleased with their customer service. They normally send your order out the same day it is received and it is always sent priority mail. One time they sent me the incorrect product so I called them and was told to keep the incorrect product (no charge) and they would send me the correct item---no charge and no shipping fees. I do suggest that you order a least two 4 oz jar of skin works. I was told at the Coat Handler website to use it three times a day and bathe your baby once a week with 15 to 1 shampoo and conditioner. I even applied conditioner a couple of times a day about one-two after I put on the cream. I really hope these products work for you. My problems have been completely resolved. Be patience. It will take about 6 weeks to completely clear up the problem, but you will see improvement in about 2 weeks. jad |
