| Nexgard Anyone have success with it? Won't be buying for a little while as I don't give flea/tick meds in the winter, but looking into this for the late spring/summer time... we have more ticks than fleas (never even seen a flea) so it's mostly for ticks. Would love to have a product I don't have to spread all over his back and deal with greasiness plus worrying about when he can/can't jump in the pool, etc. Didn't know if the product was doing well/working/etc. http://www.petcarerx.com/nexgard-chewables/25178#39355

| I have been using it with Callie since September and Sammy since November and haven't had any issues at all. Callie always acts weird after any topical products but hasn't with the nexguard.

| Great thanks! So it's actually working, you haven't been seeing many ticks?

YT 1000 Club Member | Nexgard I am planning to use this for my dogs this flea season so I will let people know how it works. We don't have ticks in our yard (never seen one) but we have them in our area, so they could pick them up on walks. Fleas however are terrible here and the topical was not working well last year with my big dog so I want to try something different. My big dog was on Trifexis a couple years ago but after learning more about it, I took him off it and have not given it since that first summer I had him. It did seem to work well, but so many dogs have gotten very ill or died from being on it that I just won't risk it.

| I recently discussed this with one of my favorite vets. I'm going with Sentinel + the Virbac Preventic Collar. The tick collar kills 95% of ticks and my vet who is teddy's treating neurologist told me this is the safest and most effective for my dogs. So I'm going to try it. Just paid $28 at chewy for two collars. Frontline is about $150/yr so this is very cost effective. Everyone is saying FL doesn't work around here anymore and even though I've been ok with it, I don't want to risk it. the product is labeled for 90 days of coverage but my vet said he suggests changing it every 30 days if the dogs are outside a lot or go in woods. I wouldn't have considered a collar before these recent convos with my vet but I'm sold.

| It is expensive but so was Advantix. I got a $50 rebate for getting 12 heartguard and then 6 nexguard. I'm just not comfortable with the collar. I just worry because I have such sensative skin, I live with two seniors and I just am stuck on not being comfortable with them in all honesty lol. All the topicals made Callie act sickish for 24 hours and I could not get my grandpa to remember not to touch it and it always stayed greasy until she took a bath. We have never had a flea issues and ticks haven't been to bad since we moved so I'm pretty happy with it and it's worth the money to me. There are a couple of months I didn't use it like January and February.

I bought 12 sentinel for $75 and got a $25 rebate and my collars were $56 for the year. Great deal to me. Plus nexguard is not to be used in dogs with seizures... That bothers me for all my dogs.

YT 1000 Club Member | Is the $24 a pill from the vet? I am able to get it much cheaper than that through a source that I have. For me, the product that will work the best will be my best course of action. Once the dogs get 1 flea then I will have flea bites all up my legs and apparently I taste better to a flea than the dogs do. A flea bite on me lasts for weeks, so then add another bite and another bite that stay for weeks and my legs look pretty bad in no time at all. I have to keep fleas under control at my house. I was looking at the Seresto collars. They have changed flea collars from what they were years ago that is for sure! If the Nexgard doesn't work for the big dog I might try the collar for him and see how that does. If he gets one flea bite he will pull all his hair out so keeping him flea free is a must. Not sure how Teek responds to fleas though, but we shall see this year. I hope to stay ahead of the game and just keep the fleas away. Last year I didn't have a single flea show up until the end of June, so maybe this year will be the same. However, July, August and Sept were terrible for fleas.
