| Happy with Dasuquin supplement for LP Maggie May is 4 yrs old and was born with LP in both legs. We rescued her about 5 weeks ago. She does not appear to be in pain or limp, but she was a bit lethargic for her age. Our vet said surgery would only be necessary if she ever shown signs of discomfort. For now, he put her on Dasuquin and the results have been amazing. She is much more active! Dasuquin looks like a treat, and we give her half a piece each day (the dosage is a full treat for dogs over 10 pounds, and maggie is 7 pounds). The package says that after 4-6 weeks you can just do every other day. We got this from our vet, the bag has 84 treats in it and was about $45 i think. Obviously talk to you own vet about dosages. I just wanted to share for fur babies that have LP and need a supplement to possibliby avoid surgery all together (thats the hope, right?!)

| Mine has had surgery in both back knees but our surgeon still recommended Dasuquin and that's what mine takes. It does seem to help. You actually got a really good price on it I get the one with msm in it and can't find it cheaper then $50.00. It's not a prescription though so you can get it from other places then just your vet.

| Thank you for posting this. My Teddy Bear has l.p. too. It isn't bothering him too much yet but it's good to know about the dasuquin.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I use dasuquin and you should see Spud come for his pill. If I forget he sits there barking at me. he loves the flavor and eats it like it is candy. I am very happy with results and the vet told us he needed surgery. Not now, he is fine. I am very careful and use little stairs for him. He is not to jump off the couch. His little legs are fragile and he loves his stairs and his dasuquin. |

| Thank you for posting this. My DaVinci is turning 9 in January and was diagnosed with LP as a puppy and two vets recommended not to do surgery unless he showed signs of pain or discomfort. We do not encourage jumping on or off beds, we have stairs for him, he jumps on and off the couch and chairs without any difficulty or pain. So far it hasn't caused him and pain, he's pretty active for his age. I am going to look into this. He knows his limitations and we've always been very careful with his legs but I can tell he's always been mindful of his legs. His legs never lock up on him but I have always noticed a little skip when he runs but it has never slowed him down and he has never limped or shown any sign of pain. |

| I learned about this on YT...I always used Cosequin and was happy with that, but as my senior continued to age, her little hip really bothered her....the Dasuquin really gave her relief. I eventually started her on Glyco-Flex III...I LOVE this stuff and it gave my precious little Aija a much improved quality of life her last 4 years....she actually started to run up and down the fence, chasing birds! | Mobility improved within a week or two, pain relief was achieved probably a week or so after I started the Dasuquin. Her activity level was much better in about 2 weeks and contined to get better until shewas not hesitant to get up and join any of us outside. Then, as she aged, the arthritis in her back and hips started to worsen....I switched to the GlyCo-Flex III when I noticed her beginning to not want to join any of us outside....she just wanted to walk around the house, and spend most of the day laying around. I was at the vet one day with a pregnant female, and there was a lady in there with her doxy that could not walk....young dog, only a couple years old. They were trying to just buy her time until they could take the dog to surgery for her disc/back. Vet put her on GlyCo-Flex....I was back in the vet a week after my litter had whelped for newborn checkups....and that lady and her doxy walked in....no, TROTTED in, with all the enthusiasm of a puppy! She was gushing on and on to the vet about how "Gretchen" was running around the yard and even running up and down the stairs, something she had not done in a year! So I immediately ordered Aija some and she was soooooo much better after a week, and continued to improve....she was 12 years old at that time, had been on Cosequin around 6-10, Dasuquin from 10-12 years old, and she was on the GlyCo-Flex III until she passed from me at almost 17. These times may be off a little because of my senior memory.....but they are close! The GlyCo-Flex comes in 3 strengths...Aija went straight to the strongest, the III, becqause she had been getting meds for her arthritis for so long! (That doxy didnt have to undergo surgery for a couple of years!) Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 10-19-2014 at 01:47 PM. |

| I saw increased mobility in about 1 week, still loving it. I am still doing daily dosages, but next week I am reducing to every other day (per the package directions) - I will let you guys know if I see a change.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Did the vet tell you what grade of LP? Glucosamine is one of several supplements that help rebuild cartilage and restore joint fluid. Concerning the differences between Dasuquin and Cosequin, Dasuquin also has an avocado/soybean unsaponifiables, and a review of human studies found that this showed beneficial effects in people with osteoarthritis. This article explains some of the differences in joint medications. Also, it tells which brands when tested had none of the claimed Glucosamine and Chondroitin in the product. It's mainly given for arthritis, and if your dog has arthritis, be aware that grains and starchy carbs can contribute to the inflammation, and of course, keep your dogs lean, this helps the joints enormously.
