Do you have a tick or flea problem?

I haven't used flea/tick meds in months... I just haven't been seeing any. I used Advantix on him in May and June which is when ticks seems to be the worse. But yeah I haven't the rest of the summer... I typically only apply when absolutely necessary (unlike Heartworm meds, of course, which I give monthly).

My little Yorkie does the same thing . Rolls on her back and goes crazy. She only weighs 5 lbs and is full grown. I can't let her out in the yard it is too big, not fenced and backs up to a woods. She is trained on P pads. I stopped using it. The Vet wanted to give her a pill but I read up on it and didn't like it. I don't worry about fleas and ticks, she isn't around pets or outside but the med had Heartworm protection. I don't know what to do.

I use revolution and have not had a reaction or problem with it. I do not want my dogs vomiting after I give them a med like Triflexis. I will continue to use Revolution since it is pretty safe and no side effects I noticed.

Same here. I used 2 or 3 capstar pills back in May & June, but haven't seen a flea or tick since then.

I prefer to take a wait and see approach when it comes to fleas. Why treat for something that isn't a problem?

I use Comfortis pill, but don't have to use it monthly, just occasionally if they pick up some fleas. Frontline does not work at all for me and I hate the yucky residue on their hair that gets on me, granddaughter, my furniture, bedding, and everything else, plus makes their hair look greasy.

Capstar is also good for a quick elimination of any mature fleas, but not for eggs, and no preventative effect.

I would run a flea comb through your dog at least once a week even if you have an indoor dog. Fleas can come in on your clothing or other items. One flea can lay thousands of eggs. One flea can create a big problem inside a home.

You won't see fleas on your dog when they first start an infestation. They stay close to the skin and can't be detected. By the time you find one you could already be facing a big problem.

If your dog does not have allergies but has itching keep a look out for the little things. Flea combs can detect and help eliminate them before you have a real problem.

Things that people used a few years ago sometimes are found out to be bad. I would research it a lot more. It is toxic wether it takes a lot or not. Many many dog products have ingredients that are not good for dogs that's why it is so important to know the ingredients of everything and what is bad for your dogs. You may think they have had no problems with it but it may show up in another symptom you don't recognize as being related or all of a sudden it might start effecting them.

I have read that some dogs have had toxic reactions to tea tree oil but it is one of those things that some will react to while others don't. Anyone thinking of using it on their pet's should be very careful when first introducing it to their dog. Maybe use just a little bit and watch for a reaction before deciding to go with a bath or something that could create a bad reaction.

Essential oils can be really helpful but they are strong so you want to make sure before going all out with one. If you do a search online you will find several different natural remedies for fleas.

WOW! 15 drops, that's a lot...only 7 drops can severely poison a big dog & kill a small cat or dog if ingested. Tee tree oil is beneficial & is safe if highly diluted, even pet shampoo that uses tee tree oil doesn't use that much. You're using way too much.

Wasn't there a story of someone on here using a shampoo with it in there and the dog was sick and they couldn't figure out why and it was the tee tree oil?

IDK, but tee tree oil is harmful if ingested. My guys drink their bath water, sometimes it goes in their mouth & they don't spit it out, they're dogs...they swallow it.
