| Lesson Learned. Alway get second opinon. Hi everyone, It is my first time posting and am pretty excited to do so. I had some technical difficulty with this site so it prevented me from posting at my time of need... but I wanted to give you guys an update on my poor little yorkie. She has two rows of teeth, adult teeth growing next to the baby teeth. I had scheduled to get them extracted with her vet but a few days prior, her mood started to change. Frequent squatting/peeing, drinking lots of water, lethargic, whimpering, crying and not playful. I took her in for blood work and urine sample. $230 later he says everything is fine except her potassium level is a little high. I asked the doctor if there is anything I can do because it is just not normal. He said just watch her and if she got worse to bring her in... I didn't like the answer so I decided to go in for a second opinion. I went to my old doctor where I used to take my cats. First thing he said was, "Dont tell me anything. I'm going to tell you the symptoms that you may see by what I can tell from the results of her test." At the end I found out she had crystals in her urine which the other doctor failed to let me know. Basically she is hurting when urinating and thats making her feel like she needs to go more... like human UTI. He also told me that she maybe acting down and not playful due to allergies. Her symptoms would be licking of paws, scratching of face and or body. Which she had been doing. And he did a quick exam to let me know her tear ducts were clogged... $65 later, I left with allergy meds, new food to try out for the crystals, and a piece of mind and hope that my pup is going to feel better soon!!!! I had to share in case someone else is having a bad experience with a vet who is not very helpful... please go to a different one for a second opinion. Hopefully they will be as helpful as mine was. |

| Hi! Welcome to YT!! I’m so glad you listened to your heart and took her in for a second opinion!! Your Motherly intuitions kicked in!! Some Vet’s are just not what they use to be. Your baby is so cute, even though you can tell she isn't feeling very well. Poor little pumpkin. What is her name? Are you going to schedule her spay/ teeth extractions with your old Vet? ( When she is better)

| Thank you She has more photos in her album now but I'm not sure how to share them haha. I will probably make a cute little gif like you have for your beauty. Her name is Sachi and she was spayed 3 months ago. Her teeth extraction I am going to wait a month just in case she needs her tear ducts flushed. The vet said her teeth are pretty much too crooked to fix so it wont hurt to wait LOL. sad!

| Oh no, poor girl! It is amazing how many dogs have those retained puppy teeth. My friend just adopted a yorkie mix, I was over there the other day and looked in her mouth- guess what she had her 2 baby K-9’s. She was spayed too about 3 months ago. I’m pretty upset they didn't take care of them when she was getting her surgery, but the place that did the surgery was hired by the animal shelter.. UGH! I swear!! I told my friend just wait until she needs a dental cleaning- no reason to put her under for that right now.. I’m sure being a Yorkie mix she will need a cleaning soon, well maybe a year or so. I think that is when I had Peanut’s first cleaning done. Nancy is one of our members- she is so great at making the Avatars. If you like you can message her, maybe she can teach you how to make one.. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/member.php?u=13858

| Welcome to YT. Sachi is so adorable. I love her smile! I read something about crystals a while ago that you might find helpful. I don't have experience with crystals, but I found it interesting that struvite crystals are not uncommon in females, especially when there is a UTI. The article is from Whole Dog Journal. 2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Wow I have never seen that before, it looks painful. Poor baby. I am glad that you got a second opinion and that your vet had the right answers for you. I recently had a similar experience and had to switch back to my original vet in office. Because I didn't think that the one who was seeing my pup was telling me everything I needed to know. She just seemed unsure of herself when ever we spoke. I become concerned due to the extent of the illness and asked to continue her care with my original vet Andrea. They asked me one time if I would care if the other vet seen her to give shots and that's all it took, I guess. I never said I wanted to change vets. That was a lesson well learned. Keeping your pup in my thoughts and pray that she get some relief soon.

| Yikes I remember those jaws teeth loll my Momo had them. Just curious why it wasn't pulled when Sachi was spayed? That way, they don't need to go under again...but it looks like she needs to anyway for the tear duct flushing. Hope all goes well & good on you for your momma instincts to get that 2nd opinion.
