I am glad that you got a second opinion and that your vet had the right answers for you. I recently had a similar experience and had to switch back to my original vet in office. Because I didn't think that the one who was seeing my pup was telling me everything I needed to know. She just seemed unsure of herself when ever we spoke. I become concerned due to the extent of the illness and asked to continue her care with my original vet Andrea.

They asked me one time if I would care if the other vet seen her to give shots and that's all it took, I guess. I never said I wanted to change vets. That was a lesson well learned.

Keeping your pup in my thoughts and pray that she get some relief soon.

oh that sounds horrible i would never want a vet who is unsure of herself. what i learned from this experience was that no matter how much cheaper they are than the other vet, if i am not leaving with hope and a better sense of time, then it's just not worth it at the end.

is she doing better now?

how was your pups recovery? when she was spayed her big girl teeth were no where in site. i was afraid she would go into heat so i had them fix her asap. her breath smells bad and she is drooling a lot now so i need to get her teeth fixed right away

will you be making an appointment? i would have had them fixed if she was feeling better. i think i will be making an appointment because her breath stinks really bad lol my vet said they are easy to take out and that he has fun pulling them out lol.

Momo recovered right away after his neuter & multiple teeth pulling. I had to carry him around to prevent him from running around & jumping!
Her breath can be bad from food getting stuck between her jaws teeth. It won't smell bad after she gets them out & she'll probably let you brush her teeth if she doesn't now. I wonder why she's drooling? Sometimes dogs drool of they're nauseated...

You may need a 3rd opinion. What kind of crystals were found? Struvite crystals are always associated with infection, so antibiotics are needed. With tinies, and UTIs, I'd have a Bile Acid Test done asap.

She is, thank you for asking. The infection is gone after 2 weeks of antibiotics. She is still on the Steroids and will be weaned off of them during the next few months to check her progress and the possibility of a immune deficiency. Time will only tell.

Sachi has been doing great after the second opinion vet visit. She is full of energy again and started playing with other dogs. She is still trying to urinate multiple times but stopped peeing on her bed and less lethargic. Her teeth look great and she is as bossy and happy as she was before she became ill. They pulled 13 of her baby teeth out and her adult teeth are crooked but it doesnt seem to stop her from chowing down.

What a great lesson and advice to all of us. We don't all have to be vets but we do need to understand what they are saying to better care for our dogs. It is not uncommon for Yorkies to retain baby teeth or to have crystals in their urine. Now to find the cause of the crystals.

Sachi is a cutie and she is really tiny. My Scarlett is about 2.5 pounds. I wish she was closer to 4 but she just turned 5 years old so she has hit her top weight. Love the pics!
